Have I gone to Soft ?

Post by CWBYUP »

Hey all I need your help !

I have pulled a few leaves out of the back of the SWB zook put new shocks in and now it got a wicked vibration.

It happens in first when your taking off and a little in second but once you get momentum (?) going its not there.

I'm thinking its getting axel wrap because the springs are to soft and its putting way out angles on the uni's.

I just want to fix the problem or put all the leaves back in because very shortly its all getting changed over to a LWB chassis and don't want to waste to much money befor then.

Thanks Nick

Sounds like you have the problem nailed, how many leaves have you got in the rear, three minimum would be my guess

If you took some leaves out it would have dropped the ride height and changed the pinion angle unless you fixed that.

Axle wrap is likely, like you said.

cheers

Thanks for the repies.

It only has two leafs in it so i think i'll put one back in.

Height hasnt changed stuff all but how do work out the corect pinion angle just to make sure ?

Thanks heaps for all the info its good to know i'm at least on the right track.

I'm trying to avoid fitting a traction bar until i go LWB because i would like all mods on this to be removable. It may be the only way to go though.

Thanks again

the pinion flange should be parallell with the output flange on your transfer case.

axle wrap changed the pinion angle when you are under acceleration. Put a leaf back in or install a wrap bar.....

pinion would not have changed while the car is stopped unless the springs are bent...
