Hey all.

Gave the new 40mm tough dog susp. lift a run in the watagans today. Don't know the area well at all, but found a couple of things that satisfied me and scared the bejeasus  out of me (south end of watagan forest road close to Wyong exit at the base area of a power line tower). Over all very satisfied with the rear end with the 9 stage adjustables in it. Work much better than the EO settings....happy enough now. :)

But with the front end, it is now stiff as anything, and I really don't think I am gettting any articulation at all. The guys that installed the tough dogs, wound my torsion bars up. I know that will make it all stiffer, but to get the lift, they had to do it, so now how do i get the articulation back? Would losing the front sway bar/having some sort of disconnect system help?

What I didn't like about it all is this thudding or cracking sound under my feet. Didn't notice it out driving, but just turning into my driveway seemed the most challenging part of the day for the front end. Now have read some other posts on this and have decided to start by greasing everything. How do I grease bushes etc.....when they are under load, and everything is still connected? I'm a landscaper by trade, so I figure I'm fairly good with my hands and nutting things out, but mechanically I want to learn some more and enjoy my driving, so any and all help is appreciated.......got some pics showing lack of front end movement if that will help ppl.

Thanks guys/gals

As far as articulation goes try disconnecting your front swaybar offroad (I keep both mine connected on road) and shaving the front bumpstops.

The usual mistake is to crank the front end onto the bumpstops, this prevents artic and gives a poor ride. Check the rubber buffers under the top A arm for clearence to their stop.
The steering stops will give clunking when on lock and going over bumps

thanks for the reply's going to have a look and test drive 2 on Saturday, both stock standard. Can't wait, should I be looking for anything in particular when I drive them?

Possibly a reply to another question?
