V8 Conversion???

Post by Mattlux69 »

Hi, i just realised that my 2.4 Hilux has no power.

I was just wondering what V8 would be best in terms of cost and ease of fitment. And if anyone new rough cost of what it may be and the amount of modifications needed to get it in?

thanks in advance
Matt.

Dude, have a search in members for either Twisty's or Nemesis' build ups. Both are 4 runners with lexus 1UZ-FE V8s in em. From memory it cost them about 6K all up. They are sweet, strong engines which should run forever if properly serviced etc.

Why is only now you noticed the 2.4 had no nuts? Most people notice straight away. :D

Matt,

The most logical conversion would be the Toyota 1UZFE 4 Litre V8 engine. I can help you out by supplying a half cut and you would probably be best off chatting to Marks 4WD adapters on (03) 9702 7366 about a conversion kit.

Marks DO NOT!!!!!!! do conversion kits for the 1UZ. Mark was talking to me about mine back at vic winch and is seriously looking at making one. But for now they DO NOT!!!!

Its either dellow or Castlemaine Rod Shop. I went with a CRS kit as their before sales service was fantastic.

yeh the 1uz-fe is a good conversion but it's certainly not the cheapest,
if your looking for something basic and cheap that will give u good reslults check out a holden 253 or 308 u can pick up a motor for under $1000 then u just need the adapter bits, it's still a carby motor so no electrics to stuff around with.
