80 series knuckle swap

Post by UZJ40 »

have got myself a front 80 series diff complete and want to cut off the ends and put them onto my 40 series diffs, obviously for the stronger cv,s.

has anyone done this and can give some advice?

theres a few buggys running the 80 knuckles on 60 diffs

if i where you with your beast of a 40 id look at widening the diffs using the 80 inner axles aswell while your at it

chop weld brace :) sounds easy dont it LOL

Thats a good point.

Its a pity that youve invested so much into the 40 diffs. The 80 rear centre is the same size as the 40 i think, yes the front isnt as strong as the cruiser 9", you could convert the 80 diff to the 9" but then youll need to invest in high steer (dobbins?) unless you can find a 9" high pinion (not sure if they exist?).

Youll then have a wide and strong front diff with the addition of the fj-80 superset and hub gears from longfield. :D

U can run v6 4 runner callipers on your discs to get 80 series stopping power too.
