Auto Trans Cooler - 105 Series

Post by me3@neuralfibre.com »

I have a '98 HZJ105 w/ an Auto. The trans cooler is a rather large one in front of the LHS of the radiator, looks very factory. There is NO trans cooler in the radiator. In EVERY other auto I have seen with a supplemental cooler, there is still the one in the radiator. Is this factory, or has a previous owner been playing?

Thanx

he has been playing....or bought a manual rad instead of an auto one...the std rad has a cooler in the bottom tank....well, actually, it is a heater..because the coolant gets hot long b4 the oil. and the temp of the lower tank is more constant.

So assuming it isn't going to cool the trans enough, a concern because I beleive the vehicle has been used for towing previously - I need to replace the radiator.

The current radiator is a 2 core aluminium unit with the typical deeper aluminium cores compared to copper. Is this the largest radiator for the car, or do the factory TD's / V8 get a 3 core?
