Extractors

Post by toyotroop »

Do extractors make much power gain on an naturaly aspirated 2H diesel?
I know the ideal would be turbo but short on dollars at the mo.. Is there an increase of fuel? and finally how much do they go for?

(tried search  its confusing)

I got some extractors about 6 months ago, $800 new installed, afterwards I couldn't believe I didn't buy them earlier, i'd say 10% better performance easily, the factory exhaust is crap :)

I bought a parts car that had a turbo and I've had that on for about a month, it peaks at 7psi still, I'll turn it up a little eventually when i've driven it enough to know it, even with it coming with the parts car I still spent $1k on install and gauges etc.

There is no real comparison, the turbo is awesome, but extractors are worth it, for sure.

Dunno about fuel economy, it went faster but then I drove faster too, which isn't that fast with a 2H :)

You can buy mine, but the exhaust wouldn't be any good for a troopy.

I had extractors on my 2h then went back to std manifold (to fit the PTO drive). I honestly prefer the std manifold - heaps more low down torque (i.e. @ and just off idle) though the power definately flattens off higher up in the rev range. I found the car kind of annoying to drive with the extractors, the torque at idle suffered so badly.

I also have a 2.5" exhaust with 2 1/4" engine pipe (clearance issues -will be sorted post turbo :?) The exhaust guy (EXHAUSTFIX) said torque improved due to higher gas velocity.

-Stu :)
