Hi guys, just thought I'd dhare my results of yesterday's exercise.
I've been playing with my 61 to bring it back up to good condition, and yesterday got the injectors done, and a dyno tune.
Came out as follows :
km kW RPM Boost
50 47.8 2170 7
70 49.4 2490 7
90 57.1 2960 7.5
100 64.6 3190 7.5
110 61.8 3470 7.5
Asked the guys to up the boost a couple of psi, but the tech reckons that the boost isn't adjustable ??
I need to re-read Carts(?) thread on getting a few more horses out of the motor.
It absolutley pulls like a freight train , but I would like a few more horses for towing my boat comfortably.
Might post some pics later .....
Cheers
Dave

The boost is adjustable if you install a boost controller. From factory, the wastegate is set at around 7.5psi. To change your boost level, you need to install a controller in the wastegate actuator line. Its basically a pressure bleed off device that stops the wastegate actuator seeing full boost pressure.
You will want to install a boost guage also.
You can get more power by upping the boost and the fuel. If you up the boost you will need to dyno tune it again to get optimum performance. Intercooling will allow you to run more boost and fuel again. If I was able to get a 2H to run 12-13psi with no problems intercooled, your 12ht should certainly be up for the challenge. The limiting factor maybe the factory turbo's ability to produce that much boost consistently.
I think in real world figures without going to mental, you should be able to achieve 70-75kw at the wheels, which would be very nice.

I had mine with a 2H and Denco turbo dyn'd last week. I haven't got the figures in front of me the peak kw was 54. That is with 35s.
AKA Mark.

1975 FJ55 - stocko, but with power steering!

I / We have successfully killed my diff (rebuilt lsd suxty) and prior to that had denco tell me i got 64kw at the wheels. - 33's
Doesn't sound that much more but when you consider the injectors are probably up for reco and that the run wasn't for tuning purposes (basic test check n go)that leaves plenty to go for.
I'm now getting Dunce to swap the diff over for an 80. I reckon that the FMIC / turbo combo is more that just a few more ponies.
Very few gear changes on open road and on hills.
No wife complaining about how she can't overtake.
No greenies whinging about lack of economy - biodiesel and better economy than falcodores with 2.5t of gear and or trailer.

2H Intercooled = It really goes.
Thats pretty good Bran. I'm stoked Dunce and I got it to 64kw without super mega boost and without dyno tuning. If you can get that out of a 2H, imagine the possibilities with a 12HT.sixdeetoo wrote:I / We have successfully killed my diff (rebuilt lsd suxty) and prior to that had denco tell me i got 64kw at the wheels. - 33's
