HELP SWB VITARA
antt wrote:sam, check here as well-> http://www.k9rdj.co.uk/
Always good value for the Vitara loons - nice 5" Overland bodylift kit on one....
There's a few there with 35"s and 36"s with Solid axles swaps - so I'm sure you can make the aussies proud with some 37" rubber.....
John sackley has Solid axle front, External cage and 35"S so it's a good starting point.

Hi guys, am planning in a solid axle front end in mine, what setup wouuld you recommend, what diffs are you using cos I want to get rid of the crappy alloy front housing. and IFS.
Will have a few pics coming soon from my vitara now on 33"muddies running a high mount on a custom bar. The biggest let down at the moment id articulation.

I'm looking at where I go next with mine too and the SAS is looking promising. If I dual transfer case then my gearing is gonna be too short for the highway stints I need to do to get out 4wding without either bigger wheels or taller diff ratios (or a 0.795 5th gear but there is a spare gearbox I havent tested which I hope has this).
Anyone know an understanding engineer in the Brissy suburbs who they think will let me do an SAS?
Hilux 4.88's (both diffs) or Sierra widetrack front with Vitara 5.125 R&P's and EFI brakes are the two options, but finding the right engineer who willl approve it when it's done seems to be my biggest hassle.
want to keep the vitara centres if I can cos I can pick up an air locker cheap. was thinking of doing that before the SAS.
have heard bout a hybrid using a vitara centre widetrack housing and LJ801 axles for strength. but want to run UJ's rather than cv"s as UJ's are cheaper and easier to replace.

i'm pretty sure this is what sam has in the front of his buggy. vitara centre with dana uj's.......sam?????
found this in the members section-> Overkill- I'm making my front diff at the moment it is a rear vitara with dana 44 knuckles and axles to make tit steer should be strong enough hopefully.

I wanna keep the Vitara 5.125's so i don't have to replace the rear and the welded diff centre that it's already got - budget is a major concern but also if I can get rid of the IFS I'll go bigger on the suspension lift and tyres again. Then the gearing will come good - should come back to near stock gearing approximately with dual transfer case and 34" rubber
