Hey
Wondering if possible to get some pics of peoples 1.6 mpfi installs, even non mpfi may be same. Mine has the powerstter and aircon attached.
I need the below if possible:
Rad mounts keeping the pwr steer. both sides if possible.
Rad mounted and closeness to fan?
extractors and how close to chassis.
Also has anyone used the vit engine mounts to do this conv - do they bolt in although lifting the engine up as they are thicker?
Regards
Nic

Hey Nic,
I'm currently reworking the radiator setup on mine. I ended up spacing my radiator forward and tilting slightly(just with nuts initially-), fitting a thermo fan.) and had to cut the drivers side radiator mount for the PS box to fit. If memory serves me correctly I did shave a little off the passeger side mount for the PS pump.
A couple of recent issues has given rise to the rework. recent hole in my radiator has initiated the following: following the loss of a 14"supercheap thermo from the waterpump bolts rubbing a hole through it, and later holing the radiator with bonnet catch mount.
To fix these issues I got a high output slimline thermofan (13" SPAL puller - Ashdown part# EFX9760) and remounted the bonnet catch by bending the mount forward out of the way and spacing the catch mechanism forward after cutting about 10mm extra clearance in the existing catch hole. I also have a custom shroud being made (albeit a very simple and slim one) which will double as the thermo fan mount.
Hope this helps
Cheers
Mike

If it's already been thought of...
There has to be a better way...

Hey Mike, Thx for the info.
I was looking at doing similar thing as it is very close to the powersteering pump and rad support. Luckily the torque twist is the other way and working away from the bracket.
After measuring it looks like the vit is about 10-20mm closer to the rad using the viscous fan. i would like to keep this if possible.
