The bell of the CV might have cracked and spread enough to let the axel spin? All would seem fine until some torque is applied and then the bell spreads allowing the axel shaft to rotate?

Ok, so you have the marks adapter kit in the transfer, or do u have a dx back there?
Sounds like most probably the c/v inner is cracked and opening up then....you could chek by making sure the front shaft is spinning when the wheels dont.....

Dare i ask....what did you do before this started happening??? some serious 4wding???

weve tried different hub to check we didnt blow a hub

we then replaced hub with stock AWD plate and the axle itself wasnt spinning inside the flange, so it is slipping in further then eye can see

Andrw, running a part time kit from goannware i think its called, we were running it with some shitness hubs, and as you know cuase you sold us the last one, 1 has already broken

sounds like you are pulling a CV apart this weekend scott :)

Hope its a c/v....axles are harder to find, diff gears about thesame... and the part time kit you definately dont want to shit itself whatever it is, if you need spares, let me know...the yota hubs are usually ok....hope your putting an extra circlip behind the securing one on the FWH to take up the xtra play....
