5L into Ln106

Post by backyard_racer »

Mate has a '93 LN106 that the 3L has nearly expired in. The injectors and injector pump are real good.

can i;

a) fit the 5L block in the chassis with engine mounts and bolt it up to the gearbox (5 speed)

and

b) use the injector pump and injectors off the 3L engine

in the future it will be turboed. thanks in advance

its not that simple. a few people on http://www.toyotasurf.asn.au/forum/ have done it. i think the engine mounts are different and the head, inlet, exaust etc are not interchagable. no idea at all on injectors.

i would just rebuild the 3L then turbo it at some stage.

Hey mate,
It can be done, currently have one in my 94 hilux s/cab.. Not much dramas according to the way things are in comparison to the 3L setup. Mine was bought like this as the original 2.8 motor was cactis. There is no obvious signs of major work done in the engine bay. Exhaust route is fairly the same too. You will be kicking your self if you dont get the 5L as it shits all over the 2.8's hehe.. The only thing being, make sure the one you buy is good.. ie no knocks.. 5L's are prone to (i think cylinder #4 becoming noisy.. :? )

Hope this helps with your choice m8.

Kindly Chris
