GQ running problems! HELP!

Hi all, have a little problem with my td42 gq... it dosent want to run!
You can prime it up and crank it over and it will eventually start after coughing and spluttering while it is cranking, it will run for about a minute (smothly) then the revs slowly drop untill it snuffs.
repeat the procedure and it will give the same symptoms.
Ive done all i can think of... new filters, checked guaze filter in top of pump, replaced pump with one from another vehicle (running of course, timing checked and triple checked when installed) checked guaze again, checked hoses for splits, droped tank and cleaned, checked steel hoses for damage, bleed and rebleed injectors etc... Got me stuffed! :oops:

Have you tried running it it with the fuel filler cap off?

Yep... and that made no difference either.

Bout the only thing i haven't done is replace the prime pump on top of the filter.

How are you checking the pump timing? Using a timing gauge or just lining it up with the marks? Check also for restrictions in the tank--check the valve on the end of the fuel pick-up isnt restricting fuel flow. Sometimes after bleeding air out of system, you need to rev it hard a couple of times to clear all air out. Have you bleed the pump?

Any time I`ve had this It was first the primer pump and another time a tiny pinhole in fuel pipe which goes over rear axle. If you bypass the prime pump and use a cheap inline filter and a primer bulb this will eliminate or confirm primer pump theory. You can use primer bulb to bleed Injector pump as well

HORAY! I think its fixed!!!!!
Decided to get it started and then turn it off so the fuel lines were still presurized (instead of run dry), got home to find that after it had been sitting in the sun all day there was a large puddle of diesel underneath the fuel tank... hey presto a small, and i mean small hole in the fuel line that runs to the engine.... i had already checked both the hoses but obviously missed it cause it was so small!
Seems to be running fine now.
Now i will enjoy my christmas break instead of cursing the truck :cool:
