What kind of on road performance can I get from the addition of a turbo to a Td42? Would you compare it to V6 performance or more V8?
How does it compare in acceleration to a modern turbo diesel (Pajero eg)?Drove a turbo diesel Kia sorento here (currently Haiti) recently and was amazed by its response even going uphill. Was fun to drive, even offroad (although never driven a 4by without leaf springs offroad).

89 gq dx. bone stock --- for now.
i wouldnt compare mine to either v6 or v8 its a diesel and is a totally different driving style.
that said i think my diesel would keep up with either in most situations and probably beat them in alot of others.
to drive them fast you have to push them hard and change gears often but to cruise round you can be rather lazy and just put round

If you are talking out right power then 200 kw is quite easily achievable. But when it comes to performance it is not that easy. The TD42 will have about twice (if not more) the torque of a 200kw V8 but no where near the revs. So it comes down to what you want. The deisel will rev slower due to the speed of combustion and also the extra wieght of the internals. This speed of combustion can be increased with LPG injection but you can't do anything about the weight inside the motor. It is a long stroke agricultural motor after all, and that is what makes it so good. Now that being said if you want instant revs and acceleration the diesel will get beaten by the petrol but once the motor is spinning the diesel will cruise and maintain speed better.
It all comes down to what you are after. I have a TD42T in my tow wagon and have taken the TD42T out of my winch truck and are replacing it with a turboed petrol V8. The reasoning is more revs, more hp, less weight and I like to do things differently. I wouldn't swap the TD42T in the tow wagon for anything as it is very strong, reliable and is about to get a little birthday so it tows a bit better. Something along the lines of a GT30 and an intercooler.
