has anyone done this???

Post by mroffroader »

im in the middle of doing my aircon to air compressor mod. on my vitara does anybody know how to wire it up to a switch i have taken all the aircon bits and peices out eg. radiator for it and now im just left with the pump and two hoses comming off it. i just dont know how to wire it up to a switch to make it work its got 2 wires one goes from something at the front of the pump to the back of the pump and it has a little quick connector in the middle and then where it goes at the back it has another wire comming out that goes into all the wiring harness? so what i want to know is how do i put a switch into it??? cheers

Heres a wiring diagranm to confuse you more :D \

EDIT; You say you have ripped it all out
Are you trying to reconnect it or run it as a compressor for air
If the later just hook it through a relay as you would with say Fog Lights

I beleive it gets neg from the block and the +ve through the cable that you are talking about.

need a relay as it draws about 5 amps i think.

ok so i would unplug the wire (-) and cut the other one (+) and wire the + to my pressure switch then from there wire it to another incab switch and from there i got back to the negitive wire and thats it done? where would i fit the relay into this equation? does it have to be wired to a power source at all eg the battery?

The one going front to back could be the +ve at a guess as it would control the cluch and the back on the -ve or are they connected. The one going into the harness(does it go to the switch in dash?

I would look at my vit motor but i am at work for another few hours.

try connect it first and make sure it works and then do final wiring. You would want the switch to only work on "on" position guessing and then neg to ground and switch the +ve by the relay. the relay will be switching the +ve going to the compressor.

one link here for a conversion

Go
Posative from battery to pressures switch
Pressure switch to compressor clutch
Compressor clutch to earth

You would be better of running a relay though
Try to do a drawing later (if I get a chance)
