Converting rotoflex to unis

Post by up2nogood »

Changed the tailshaft in the Disco on the weekend.

I was thinking it might be as easy as changing the pinion flange on the diff from the rotoflex one to the uni joint one..........

But this wasn't the case.

Does anyone know if the pinion on the uni type diff has a different spacer, or something, in comparison with the rotoflex one? Bolting the uni flange to the diff pinion just made it lock up. Spacing it out didn't help, putting in a few mmm of spacers to stop it locking up then had the pinion flogging around everywhere.

I changed mine. Rangie tailshaft, fine spline pinion flange and yes a different spacer is required.

Sorry I don't know the spacer details, I was given the correct one when I got the pinion flange.
