EVERYBOdY/PLEASE LOOK!!!! PATROLS

Post by Bruzar »

Ive got a bit of a decission to make so i thought i would see what people thought.

I own a 93 GQ ST SWB dual/fuel with 135,000 kms on it, it got electric windows, 2.5inch lift and the car is in exellent condition inside and out/nearly immaculate. (AUTO) every thing is perfect on my car.

NOW the othercar is a TD42 GQ SWB ST 93 so the same model as mine the has over 230,000 kms on it. condition as far as i can see is a about 25%worse than mine, but its a manual and diesel. it has no lift or mods but does have factory rear diff lock, the guys said he used to have a turbo on it but he took it off and put it on his other car , it used bigger fuel tank more lift but he took everything off and put on his other car.

If i got the car eventually i would turbo, would i need to rebulid motor?
by having already a turbo on the car then taking it off affect engine life?

I only today and tommoro to make up my mind so feedback would be great thankyou.

WhAT should i look out for when looking at this car?

WHAT DO YOU THINK.

A turbo wont hurt a TD42 if it's set up and tuned right.
230K isnt a lot of kays for a 4.2D either

i bought my TD42 with 314 000 on it. Expecting it to go till atlast 500 00. Though it's never had a turbo. Aslong as theres been regular oil and filter changes it'll go forever

personally i would stick to the petrol auto, they have more power than a deisel turbo, and i would rather a auto patrol than a manual one. for the price you pay for a turbo and intercooler you could stick you petrol patrol on gas and put rockhoppers in em. stick with your car its better.

i have had 5 SWB patrols petrols, diesels, LPG, auto manuals, and i think aout of all of em the petrol on LPG that was Auto, was the best out of the lot. Just tune your car so that it just runs on LPG. i found that duel fuel was too much trouble and maintance. also the LPG helps in the steep stuff as the engine will not stall like a normal petrol engine.

Keep your are and save the money. ATM i have a deisel manual and just intercooled and turboed it and it only just as fast as a petrol one. DONT SWAP

depends on your own preferences. i'd be saying i wanted to keep my own springs n shocks if i swapped (i.e. keep your 2in lift). also be wary of the state of the donk, he could have backyard butchered it when he pulled the gear out of it before...

keep the diesel, it's much better up the bush, better on fuel, more relible through river crossings, and as for turboing it there are no mechanical things to change just bolt on turbo, my friend works for nissan and asked them direct, and its now got 220 horse power at the wheels with a front mount cooler
