Gearbox oil ?

Post by beaver700 »

Hi,

Just about to refil my sierra gearbox with oil. I am not exactly sure which type to use.
A guy at repco told me to use Castrol VMX 80 or something... while another mechanic told me to use engine oil!

What do you people use, what works best for you. What should I avoid?

Cheers

I assume you mean in a Suzuki Sierra
Use gear box oil,
motor oil will kill it quick.
There are some cars that do use motor oil in gearbox, but not Sierras
(maybe cosworth sierras :?: )
Somewhere round 80/90 is good.
