i just don't understand why so much of a rover gets changed just to look like a rover.
yes i know diffs are shit and etc, etc
would it have been easier to put a rover body on a patrol chassis?
everyone likes different things but it seems unefficent.
i'm sure the build quality will be top notch and the truck turn out great. i just strugle to get my head around some things.

uninformed.....yup!~....Hybrids are always stronger
...hey Cheezy, how will the CVs stack up with such big rubber?? Have heard of a few Nissan CVs busting with 37's never mind 42's. Mind you they were being flogged at the time.
Look forward to seeing the pics

i think a few missed my point.
i know the guy wants a rover look.
i know he wants to run the same stuff as his comp rig to have spares.
it just seemed to me that a chassis extention and full axle, gearbox and transfer change would be more time consuming than dropping a lr body on a gu chassis.
i know cheezy does great work. im not nocking that, the idea or what a person wants. just seemed most of the lr stuff was being changed

I don't think anyone in their right mind could say that Rover is stronger than Nissan GU in the diffs/axels/CVs.lexi wrote:So as a Professional can you confirm that Patrol driveline is stronger than Rover 110 ?. In your opinion of course.

And the best part is, its not a difficult swap. Going to a 5 link front brings the Nissan stuff up to the capabilities, flex-wise, of the Rover front too.
What will the final drive ratio be like compared to the 110 set up? Nissan ratios don't really like tyres bigger than 35".

I get the idea of the build and the reasoning behind it, but if its mainly/only a tow rig why make it 4wd at all and also apart from the rear pinion alignment why not use the lt230 transfer - that is one rover part that is better then jap stuff. Sounds like one tuff rig.
Saddle up tonto, its the not so loanrangie! . 98 TDI DISCO lightly modded with more to come.

Its defintiely easier with the Nissan parts. And you are well known for your affinity with Patrol running gear.Cheezy4x4 wrote:I have only ever seen 1 broken GQ T-case and that was lack of (NO) oil with 500hp.
Also the cost and availability of the GQ $250 and gears and also the option of twin t-cases.
And yes in the future this can and will be doing winch comps.
Sounds bloody awesome, Cheesy
Now make with the farkin pics
I'm guessing that lexi was interested in how the 110 salisbury (similar to dana 60) rear diff compared to the nissan.Micka wrote:I don't think anyone in their right mind could say that Rover is stronger than Nissan GU in the diffs/axels/CVs.lexi wrote:So as a Professional can you confirm that Patrol driveline is stronger than Rover 110 ?. I think I remember Sam (strangerover) posting that dana 60's were far stronger than nissan. But he may have been considering the spindles etc of dana 60, which are superior to rover salisbury.
Although the 24 spline axles would not compare, the salisbury stuff is plenty strong for a 110.
