indicator problem

Post by Patchy »

Ok here is the problem. My indicators flash once when turning then turn off and stay off. My question is would I be looking for a dirty/stuffed comination switch? Or a stuffed flasher unit (I would have thought with a stuffed flasher unit they would just stay on)?
Im going to pull the combination switch apart tomoz night but if this sounds like a flasher unit to anyone, please yell out and let me know. Secondly where are the flasher units in patrols SWB MK, I assume they have one for the indicators and a seperate one for the hazards.

i would swap the flasher unit first or atleast borrow a mates just to eliminate it before pulling things apart

unless you enjoy pulling things apart and it is probly full of dust dirt and crap anyway

they look fairly simple so don't exppect it to take too long to pull apart if i did. where are the flasher units on them, do you know? and do they have a seperate one for hazard lights?

actually im not too sure where they are as i havnt had to play with mine yet but i did read somewhere around the brake pedal
you could always turn on your hazard lights (as i would asume they are next to eachother) and trace the clicking noise

edit; just looked in the bible and it is above the brake but i also noted no seperate hazard flasher just said if hazard lights dont work replace flasher and no other flasher is in the diagram

Some flasher cans come on and then flash off and some come on in off mode and flash on.

From model to model you may notice differences like that.

It sounds like its flashercan.

Have you tried hazards? This would eliminate issues to do with the indicator switch itself.

You cant miss them mate there basicly just above your brake and throttle and are held in with a 10mm bolt from memory.

I actually had mine fall out while I was driving and thats how I found it. :bad-words:

ok fellas fix the problem (sort of) pulled the cover off the combination switch everything looked good there. went looking for the flasher can.... 2 flasher cans just as i thought, both 2 pin cans, both interchangable with each other swapped them around and now my indicators work and my hazards well..... I wont be needing them, its not a toyota :D
