12HT Compression
Origonal Spec Compression
30.0 kg/cm^2, 427psi, 2942kpa
Minimum Compression
20.0 kg/cm^2, 284psi, 1961kpa
Max Difference between cylinders
2.0 kg/cm^2, 28psi, 196kpa
Get them to do both dry and wet compression tests, this will tell you wether its rings or other (valves, head gasket, crack/hole in piston)

If you have low compression it will almost definantly blow white smoke on startup idling while engine is cold.
Also, id be more than happy to send you a copy of the toyota engine and body manuals for the HJ60 on cd, engine manual covers 2H and 12HT. This is where i got the figures i posted from.
