GQ Passenger seat floor bolt ripped big hole in floor.

The right hand rear bolt, on the front passenger's seat, has ripped a hole in the floor of the vehicle. A hole about 4 times the size of the original bolt.

There's no apparent rust, and the vehicle hasn't had an accident that I know of, so apart from the obvious first question, which is something along the lines of WTF???
The second question is, what can I do?

I don't know how to weld, and don't have a welder, and not sure if it could even be fixed with welding.
The whole seat lifts at that corner with every corner if we put anyone in the seat, so it's an issue I need to deal with fairly fast.

Any suggestions? I can't seem to mount a piece of plate under the vehicle for the bolt to go through into, as the hole for some reason doesn't come through to the underside of the vehicle. It's like the floor of the vehicle is an inner skin.

I stuck a big washer under for a temp fix, then swapped the seats and remade the rails later on.

I had this happen on the inside rear of both seats. Was due to flex in the seat frame on the drivers side.
This is only a cheap saddle thing from Nissan that bolts to the floor with 2 smaller bolts. There a pain to do though as the carpet pretty much needs to be taken out.

Theres a welded nut under floor which bolt screws into. Mine broke so i just put a bolt in, works fine, just a bit tedious if seat is to be removed with nut + bolt instead of just bolt.

By the sounds of it you could do the same, but if hole is excessively big, use a piece of steel plate as a washer on underside. One day, if the need arises, get it welded. The '2 skins' that you mention - sounds to me like the heat sheild above your muffler, easy to remove to access the seat bolt hole

I think you should shoot that Safari, judging by the dramas you've had with it.

from what i gather you are saying that the passenger seat mount, back right hand corner has ripped outa the floor,

if i were you, id find someone that can weld, and get them to weld a patch, approx 200x200 across the hole, using some 2-3mm mild steel, to help spread the load, also get em to weld a nut to the bottom, so you can still use the original seat mount, should take no more than an hour or so to fix up

fix it and flick it. You dont want to have to go through what i've been through with a cab swap due to rusted out floor - the drivers rear right seat mount had been 'fixed'.
