What do you guys recommend on replacing the steering knuckle oil seal.
1. remove the whole steering knuckle or
2. cut oil seal and replace whilst knuckle still on
i know one is less work but has anyone used the 2nd method and had the oil seal leak.
thanks
Josh

Steering Knuckle oil seal 1991 Sierra
well its actually not an oil seal as such but more just a wiper seal to keep water out of the cv housing and the grease in. in the past i have cut mine and it works fine, but if you were going to do it properly you should get both axel seals, wheel bearings kin pin bearings etc and do it all at once,
if you have oil leaking out of the knuckle then most likely your axel seals are gone, so i would go with the whole kit and kaboodal.
when buying seals go genuine as aftermarket are rubbish in comparison.
