How long a go did the heaqd get redone???

The head is the most expensive part of a diesel motor & if you were doing a head at 300,000 you'd do a bottom end as well!

Also was it an OEM head or aftermarket??

head is like 1K full reco, rebuild is $3500+, how do you figure a head is most expensive?

don't touch it.

the service intervel for the 2.8's is 5000km. also the hiaces are resonably low geared so they rev like crazy at normal speeds and combined with poor oil from lack of service tends to stuff them quick. these are hard on the oil and are known to snap cranks.

also if well maintained they do 400,000 without ever pulling the head off, so the head reco is suspect.

yeah i sort of suspected that with servicing just wanted it cleared with people that know the motor better.good to get the good oil so to speak on it........
