Hi there,
Basically I am in the process of gathering parts together to lift my GQ Patrol.. I have bought a set of Dobinson coils which will be about a 2-3 inch lift (most likely 2.5 from what ive read), these have been matched with Bilstein shocks (extended) and a set of polyairs.. Now getting to my questions :
1) The original protector thing at the top of each spring is stuffed, should I replace it with an original one?? Or alternitavely can I get those spacers that everyone seems to sell in place of that?? maybe 15mm extra??
2) I would like to change the lower rear control arms as one is slightly bent, I have seen 2 that look ok, 3rds and Hobzee on ebay?? Should the rubber bushes be changed top and bottom??
3) For about a 2.5inch lift is it neccessary to change the panhards, keeping in mind that my panhard bushes are stuffed and will need replacing I thought it might be just as cheep to replace the panhards complete with bushes??
4) Should the brake lines be replaced, if yes, where from??
5) Lastly, where can I get a set of swaybar link pins for the rear to suit a 2.5inch lift and how long should they be?? There are a lot that say they suit a 100mm lift, could I just use these or are they too long??
Thanks heaps if anyone can get through all my questions.. Any help or advice would be most appreciated..
Cheers,
Paul

A few GQ suspension lifting questions ???
1. those rubbers will reduce vibration slightly but u can live without em so depends whether u wana spend more money.
2. control arms are also upto u and how much u wanna spend but stronger ones are very beneficial, ive seen em snap and its not pretty.
3. panhards arent a real issue but ur diff will sit out one side which usually means one side just cops more mud and genuine bushes range from about $15 - $40 so they are a lot cheaper than whole panhards.
4. u can get a longer front brake line and use the front one u got in the back.
5. if u get 100mm sway bar pins theres a good chance they wont work anyway but theyll look good to the cops/DOT. threaded bar works well and u at least have the adjustability to make it watever length u want and worst case u can pick it up from bunnings for about $10 for a metre.
