Gear box refill/ check bolt!

I have checked all the oil's in the zook before i take it for a wheel tommorow and i remembered i don't think i have ever checked the gearbox oil sence i have had it( 2 years) !

To get the bolt out is between the chassi rail and the gear box but you cant get a socket on it!

The guy before me has rounded it off a little bit but a ring spanner fitted but i didn't want to round it off completly!

Multi grip's dont go on to it because there's a flap bit in front of the bolt!

You can't give it a knock with a hammer because there's no room!

ANY IDEAS?

Umm ok.

Usually it's a hex bolt that requires a 3/8" square plug socket to undo. I use a 1/2" to 3/8" adapter socket extension.

If it's a normal bolt then you will most likely have to weld a nut to the end of it if it's rounded off.

Get a set of quality Aston Wrench's ... can get out (or snap off) anything even rounded nuts and bolts and allen head bolts after the inside is stripped.

But yeah It should be a 3/8 square drive??

I drain mine out, then fill it thru the gearstick hole. Never been able to remove my filler, even with it out on the floor.
A lot easier to fill this way too.
If oil is 2 years old, change it anyway, only $10 fer oil.

Older boxes have bolts sometimes, not square holes.

My 1.0ltr runs a 10mm Allen Key from memory, no rounded hex plugs for me. PITA when they fill with mud though

My 1.3L has a 10mm allen key head too.

Mine doesn't have a an allen key!

If i get it out might see if i can find one and stick it in!

if its a bolt stlye drain plug and its slightly rounded off, nothing beats a good set of stilsons (plumber wrench) - there good for almost anyhting!

I have a 1.0l and it uses an allen Key to get both the drain plug and the fill plugs out.
I made up these tools and it make life alot easier.

ZOOKSTA mine isn't the alen key one but when i finally get this thing out i will be making a custom tool for it!
