AIR LOCKER FRONT OR BACK
G,day I have an 80 series 1hz with a 4 inch lift and only have the cash for 1 air locker. Just wondering if anyone out there has locked front or rear in their 80 and can let me know which is better.

A lock Right solid locker in the rear will cost about A$400 including postage from the US if you get it from Rocky Road Outfitters, you'll find them on the US E-bay site. Great guys to deal with.
Then put the air locker in the front.
If you're a member of the LCOOL AUS list there's three videos in the "files" folder (from memory). They are of a Patrol that has independent air lockers at both ends. The first video show the truck assending a steep grade with open diffs. It get's about 3/4 of the way up and spins a wheel. The second video is of the same truck with the rear locked climbing the same hill, again it looses traction on the rear wheels at the same point as it did with open diffs. The final video is with only the front diff locked, the truck climbs the hill like it wasn't there.
Here's another way of thinking about it. If you had to lug a wheel barrow full of bricks up a hill or up a step, you could get a run up at it and potentially loose your load or you could turn arround and drag it up in a controlled manner.
Hope some of that helps. I think some other furums may also have the videos.

weld the rear and locker in the front....
welded rear equals fun all day long
