2H Fuel Economy

Looking at buying an older cruiser (the Rodeo keeps breakin..... ), proberly a 45 or early 75 trayback. What sort of fuel economy can i reasonably expect from these?

Lowest ive ever got is about 11.7L/100

wish i got that sort of economy, i got a 1987 75 series tray with a fully rebuilt engine and injector pump with new injectors that is all only bout 18,000 km old and i only get about 500km to a tank drving to and from work :(:( damn im jealous of you getting 11.7 when im not getting much better then 7 - 7.5 :S:S wonder why this is.....

11.7Litres per 100km is what i gtet.

If you are getting 7-7.5 literes per 100km then that is much better than what i am getting, but i highly doubt you can get a 2H to give 7.5l/100.

YOu get 500km to a tank, how many liresdo you put in 60ish means your about 12L/100. 70litres means about 14L/100

Believe it or not a mate of mine and I have both gotten ours down to a best of 10.5L/100km. Since my 33's have gone on and the AC pumping im getting 11.5 - 12L/100 now.

i run 33's and my aircon never switches off so thatd be about right

To keep the fuel econ down lose any extra weight you don't need, run your tyres at optimal pressures (about 32psi), don't rev the shit out of it ( I think I shift at about 2500rpm max). Oh and stay away from hills.

I just got my AC retro'd to 134a and have had it flying all week also. Killed my fuel econ this week, and my new 33's didn't help either.

going on further, how much better is the economy with the engine being turboed? or is it only remarkably better when driving long trips?

Thanks guys, could live with 11-13L/100 (as the Rodeo gets 9.5-111/100). I was lolt sum rediculous figures from 8/100 to 19/100 .
I dont plan to have big tyres (31 or 32's) and dont use the air anyway. Just need something a bit 'tougher' than the Rodeo for gettin around the bush shooting without ripping suspension bits off as happen now

I have brought this subject up before - I have a 2h fitted to a MWB Toyota.

I have a few variables with the vehicle running 33" tyres - with the tyres it puts the speedo out by 10km/h but I constantly get 450km out of 65 litres - 13lt/100 (I thinks the fuel tank holds 80lt on the mwb's but when its empty on the guage I fill it - havent been game enough to run it out).

I've had a wide fuel consumption range...

Travelling up beach at high tide in soft sand flat out in 3rd low range 15l/100kms

On highway doing 110kph 11l/100kms

One thing i'm still trying to figure out... I know that wind drag etc means that say (depending on your vehicle) better economy can be acheived at 90/95kph than at say 110kph, my sixty seems more fuel efficient at 110kph where it does 3,000rpm????

Also, i've noticed they go a lot better when the ambient temperature is high - so different from a petrol!

My supercharged 2H with Q78 swampers gets about 30l/100km in sand during comps
I can get about 18l/100km on the road

I used to get around 11.5/100 but it now 12.5 with the turbo (I overtake lots more now and stay on the speed limit of 110) where i used to float between 95-105 and need run ups to get around slow vehicles.

Around town I'm getting 15 but I drive a bit more aggressively with the turbo.

Just filled up these were the figures i got..
69.52 L and 385 KM
So this worked out to 18.05714L/100km
Have i worked this out correct?
I know itll be a bit high went up the beach on the weekend

By the way its a 1hz 75 Ute

I usually fill up after around 600 to 640km, takes between 75 and 80l
That makes it 8km per litre or 12.5l per 100km's. For a 2 tonne+ car with the areodynamics of a brick I am happy with that. Its not that much worse than the wife falcon.

Just got my first 60 , i've rebuilt the engine its a 2h and i'm getting 12.3 liters per hundred kilometers. mix up of around town and highway driving.

Pretty damn happy with that.

My hj75 troopy on 37's, with 4.56 diff gears and intercooled bb turbo @ 14psi uses around 14-15l/100km. Best I've got was 13.6l/100km.

I get 450 -480km's out of between 65-70L fills, highway driving, 110-120km/h, 75 series trayback, 35"s and 2H turbo. Truck weighs in at around 2800kg with driver.

Mine's a 1985 60 Series wagon that I just bought on the downs.
Driving it back from Brisbane to Ayr I averaged 8.7L/100km. Worked out being about 70L from Aspley to Rockhampton - 671km. Mind you I don't drive like I stole it either... I save that for my 200 series!!!

hj47 with 4speed on 32 split rims gives me between 10-13L/100km

Usually about 11. About 12.5 when I have 10 people in the back.

Towing a trailer gets me up to about 14-15.

I usually cruise at about 90km/h (2800 rpm or so), if i go 100km/h adds an extra couple of litres per 100 and the car sounds likes its about burst at the seams....so i don't

With my Turbo'd 2H 60 series, I've never really gotten worse than 15L/100. Think I got to 16 or 17 once when I drove it at around 120 for a long time on the highway.

Best I've gotten was 14L/100. Highway driving around 100. Although It seems to always get around that mark, around town or not. Unless i'm towing or consistently doing over 100.
