Low range gears

Post by turbo gu »

I'm thinking of putting in marks gearmaster gears in my GU 42 td manual. its on 35s and has had diff ratios changed . i'm wondering if the 83% or the 43% are the go? i do allsorts of 4wdriving with the truck and i'm thinking that the 83's might be too much.

what ratios did you go to if u went 4.6 i wouldnt even bother.

if u went 4.3 i doubt you'll need them anyway but i would go the 20%

4.1 which is standard on your gu i would have gone the 40%

83% are to much gearing unless your really really into going slow

I have 83% in my GU with 4.3 and run both 33 & 35's.

IMOP I would not have the 43%. The 83's sound like a huge reduction but I mainly use 3rd gear on most reasonable hills and second on the slower stuff and change back into high when needed. Down hill low first is great for crawling over ledges rocks without having to be on the brakes, just let the car do the work. I am not sure though how 83's would perform with 4.6 gears and it may be better with 43% gears.

Deffinately get yourself a set its just a matter of which ratio.

Cheers

the only way to do it, is to go for a run in a rig with each.

theres a ton of threads with people asking this exact same thing.. there are fans for both... but its what suits u.
