Dual cases or Gears
Posting on behalf of a mate. Wanting to know what people think about the two. Gears are simple but a bit more expensive and you only have the one option of very low, but with the duals you have the two low's and also what brand people are using and if anyone has had the duals engineered or mod plated in Qld. Also over all cost for the duals would be good. Pic's of setups would be nice aswell
plenty of parts on the bench
i love duals sometimes its better to be in low instead of low low.....
plus taking off in 4th or 5th is always fun....
also a mate has gears in his zook....and as super quick as those things are its really annoying following him on the highway as he cant break 90k...is that a gear thing or a zook thing???????

The gears shouldn't effect your high range.
I have gears in my cruiser. And since I mainly use it now for touring I preferr them. However, when I eventually get around to building my toy rig it will be with duel's.
Just have to get approval from the minister of finance, war and procreation.

The gearsets for zooks do affect you high range as thats the main purpose of putting one in a zook because go to 31's and the 1.3 struggles big time to turn them...not suprising given its about 20% increase from stock.
And Flynn....mate its part zook thing, part running too deep a reduction so you just sit behind me and admire the scenary
Sic Lux...I vote duals as well just coz you get so much more variety + the deep reduction

Yeah thats what i reckon thats why if i can afford it when he buy's his adapter i might see if they'll do it a bit cheaper if we get them at the same time rover1 you in on that which means i'll have a mega low because i have gears at the moment. Flynn what adapter you running and overall cost because allpro is around $150 cheaper than marks and i think thats with postage.

Wgat does he want to drive?
If he just wants to crawl gears would be a good option.
A hilux has enough wheel base to deal with the added length of duals, something like a sierra doesn't due to tail shaft length.
Costing, gears you just need to do gears. Duals, you need to do the crossmember (talk to Bubs) and driveshafts plus the adaptor and additional transfer.
I have duals in mine and wouldn't have it any other way. In many instances gears are too low for driving down here and high is just that little bit too high. This is where the duals really shine by providing that added versatility.
If he wants stoopid low he can always go gears in the second case at a later stage.
Well I'm guessing that they didn't think everyone would carry on like a big bunch of sooky girls over it like they have........
duals are great!!
go one better put a gear set in the back tranny for duals !!!
Go the twin stick too with the duals makes for easyer turning in the tight stuff.
as sierrajim said keep in mind all the other mods they can be a pain in the a$$
the best duals are the marlin

professor: thats what i'd have if i do duals in mine.
sierrajim: thats what i find alot too hitting stuff in 4th and 5th so i have a bit of speed some hills i have to give it heaps at the bottom and the go to a lower gear for the rest hence why i'm contemplating doing it to mine some time. He drives a bit of every thing like me so thats why i reckon he shoud opt for duals because it pisses me off having to go to 4H or 2H(rally) to keep up with every one else when the track isn't to hard.
