Choose the appropriate diameter rope, and it will recover your Troopy fine.
Strictly speaking, UV will degrade Amsteel Blue to some extent. However, it would take a considerable amount of time and our ropes aren't exposed to it long enough before the rope is replaced to do any damage.
The larger diameters i.e. 30mm, 40mm dia etc are used in the shipping industry for moorings and tow lines and are exposed to the elements 24/7.

I've found that if it isn't cleaned properly, the mud dries in between the fibres and will abraid the rope from the inside out.
95% of the mud can be removed with the hose when you're cleaning up your recovery gear at the end of a weekend 4wding. The rest is easily removed by soaking it in the wash-tub for a day or so. Hang it in the garage to dry and its ready for the next weekend.

i wonder just how true this actually is. I have read the specs on how strong the synthetic rope is and from reading that it sounds like it is miles ahead of steel cable as far as breaking strain goes. But i also read how some people seem to break it reasonably often. And thats using the larger sizes. I know how much lighter and safer it is when it does break, but if its so strong why does it break so often? Is it just that it is not as durable as steel wire rope? im starting to think steel wire rope might have a lesser breaking strain but be a hell of a lot more durable. That is a good question. Rope will cut a lot easier over rocks but when cable is winched in on the drum it gets damaged from overlaps and so on. rope is safer and you can take precautions to keep it out of harms way.
