hilux power/alt issues

Post by dominic »

howdy,
the charge light in my LN65(2L diesel) came on the other weekend, and not to soon after i lost power to accessories.

swapped in a another alt and voltage reg with no diff.

odd thing is i put 12volts to the wire that would normaly link to the alt every thing comes back on,
however the alt gives wierd readings on teh multimeter...

i have checked all the fuse's for everything and can not find any broken or lose connections.

i cant figure out why ive lost power to acc??

any ideas??

cheers

have checked all the fuses in the box located on the drivers side wall and inside the drivers kickpanel.

do they have fuseable links in the wiring between the batt etc?
didnt look like there where any..

a simple but odd thing.... have you checked its spinning properly? not uncomman to get harmonic balances that slip giving no drive to the alt.

Yes there is a fusible ling in the wiring up near the battery terminal. If it burnt out it wont start and have no power to anything.

it would jump around a bit read 13.5 then 15.8 up to 19 something back down then it would just display a 1 on teh left side of the screen.

figured that bit out tho.

i can make it start with a bit of rewiring, and i cant see any fusible links in the wiring(only those in the boxs)

drive belt is tight and alt looks to be spinning with no trouble..

im going to try and clean up my 1st alt(currently got spare in-which i think is also stuffed now)and see if that makes any diff.

cheers
