noise on start up/ Nissan Dealer wiped there hands

Post by michael a »

My dad has a new nissan pulsar well 50 k on it now. From new it has started with a timing chain noise when cold started. Nissan has told us that this is standard and not to worry about it.

They dine a oil pressure test on the car @ 6000rpm when cold. Now that cant be good for a motor. Still no fault with car according to nissan

We took it back again and now they have told us that there is no noise and that thay never want to see us again in regards to the noise.

What should we do?

I wanted to put a knock in th motor and take it back for a new motor but my Dad is against that.

Any IDEAS ON HOW WE CAN MAKE THEM FIX IT.

take it to another nissan dealer and get a report
take it to an independant mechanic and get a report.

then the legal gig is the go...

threaten them with taking them to the fair trading thingo. I know of people who a car dealer ship stooged them, threatened taking him to court and got everything fixed, much cheaper for them.

Get it in writing that Nissan says it is normal so when/if it stuffs up you have documentation to back up your claim.

It also wouldn't hurt to get a second opinion.

no idea on those cars but there was some metion on navarra/patrol forums about noisy chains exspecially on startup. apparantly the timing chain tensioner runs off oil pressure hence it dosn't tighten up untill it warms up a bit. "a nissian feature". however i do see a few comlaints of failed chains so i wonder if its related.

if those motors use a tensioner that runs off oil pressure i would check your oil and mayby change oil grades/types.

yeah they run on oil presure but they should not lose pressure over night on a new car. The thing sounds like a 89 magna when it starts. ITS A LEMON. we will keep fighting nissan in regards to this matter.

Does any one know someone that works at nissan dealer we can speak to?

From day 1

Car had incorrect oil level in motor LOW

A/C condensor was damaged fins all bent over

rear brakes not adjusted ( told them about this so they adjusted them at the hand brake cable and not the drums now that shows how good they are)

Month 2
1000km service

Incorrect engine oil put in motor (not to Nissan spec)

10,000km service
done by me using genuine oil at mta work shop

20,000km back to dealer for engine noise

looked at car and told us that we had put incorrect oil in car and it was low on oil.
They wanted to perform a oil usage test.

Checked oil level at home 1L overfull.

Noise has contuned still

Now its been back about 4 times.

they told us that there was a noise and it had to be looked into. (in writing)

After the last time the Nissan rep told my dad that he there is no noise and there never was a noise and he never wants to hear from us again.

He will hear from us again and we will not stop until its fixed or until we has gotten a refund on the car.

Nissan is really backing up there product!!
We will never buy another nissan again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We are looking at taking legal action against Nissan to get a refund on the vechile if any one wishs to join us in a legal battle.

Tell me about your problems with nissan and we will see what we can do as a large group against them.

sounds like its your timing chain tensioner

mine rattles on startup when cold, but I ignore it.. when it's warm it's good as gold

If it bugs you that bad, replace the tensioner with a new one!

can't realy coment a lot without hearing it in person. i've been told its a "nissian feature". i can't hear it over the noise of the deisel motor anyway. also i would think the oil pressure would be high enough with 10-20 seconds of startup.

one thing that was mentioned was the oilways sometimes get clogged if incorrect oil is used.

what oil did they use in it?
what did you use?
