1.6l conversion to my zook
1.6l conversion to my zook
hi can some one help me please im looking at putting the 1.6l vitara in my zook and i need to know how many mods do i have to do to fit it in eg do i have to mod the sump to miss the diffs and stuff like that all the info would be good thanks for the help
I will be starting a thread (for the bible) on this conversion very shortly
Just waiting for the halfcut to arrive, still
The thread will be through and contain alot of pics
Hopefully in the next week or two
There are several ways to doit, personally I find a bolt up conversion the easiest
I am using a kit which I brought of BenT from this forum
The installation should be fairly straight forward the difficulty will be the wiring
cheers

Yes on the mpfi efi vit motor, all depends on how u mount the motor and iff u want a bonnet vent or not. i went the 2" BL and have enough clearance to play under there. also wanted it for other things

I have the mpfi efi motor and used the sierra flywheel and clutchNIK wrote:I just read through the bible but I didnt find any reference to the flywheel. Do you use the 1300 flywheel and clutch?
Do you need to get it engineered or just blue slipped as its only a small increase from 1300 to 1600?
Thanks Nik

Flywheel is determined by the gearbox bellhousing, 1600 wont fit in the 1300 housing (I think)
and
The 1300 starter bolts straight up and the 1600 needs the housing ground down a little to clear the block
Vitara brake rotors and calipers are a straight swap
Vitara radiator bolts straight in
Wiring is a pain in the arse
and...

rad is not a straight in, about 1.5 times bigger than a sierra one.
wiring a pita - tru
if u use the adapter kit then starter from vit is straight in.
using sierra flywheel and clutch works as u are using the sierra box with the adapter

Its carb motor just in the process of buying it and trying to get everything ready.
Not sure if the radiator is good Ive been having problems with the engine stuttering on the highway. I thought it was a fuel problem ( I have a weber) then I thought it was electrical but now I think it could be overheating because it runs fine when its cold but when pushed on the road the guage goes JUST over half and then it runs like crap. When I stop and let it cool right down it runs fine again?
