Triton engine swap

Post by tritontray »

Hey,

Still love my diesel triton, but needs a little more get up. I have all these ideas which I am thinking about.

Retro fit a turbo
or
New 2.8 turbo from the MK's that had them, as mine is the MK n/a 2.8
or
fit it with a petrol 3.0l one from the triton.

Will I be able to get new motors, or will they have to be low klm ones from a wrecker?

An aftermarket turbo is $3500 ish.

whats a new 2.8 turbo worth, and surely the 3.0l petrol has to be cheaper than the 2.8 turbo.

Lastly will the 3.0l just be a straight swap over, or will it be a hassle?..

I can potter about in my utes engine etc etc etc, but i'm no mechanic, so it will all have to be done by a pro.

So anyone got any ideas, pros, cons, thoughts on who is good to do this kind of thing in the sydney area. or other engine choices.

Thanks heaps in advance.

OK after further thought, not wanting to get rid of the diesel, + it has low klms, I have decided on going the aftermarket turbo. I have heard some good things from a couple of people in my 4x4 club about turbo glide turbo installations.......good website as well. Does anyone have any info on these guys, or recomend others in the sydneyish area.

My current concern is the cost of a 2.8 turbo, let alone a 3.2!!!!!!!!!!!!

But thinking about it, would it even fit?

The 3.2 is the same block as the 2.8 - so it shouldn't be a problem.

Price, I don't know.
