no offense but his kit can be engineered very easily and is very extensive

Yea I know, I've looked at yours and seen what the engineer is approving, I never would have any trouble engineering my ute cut ;) , there is a lot more structural steel in mine, its the 351, chassis cut, EFI, tray mounts, that can't be engineered

Not having a go, saves all the measuring and thinking :D

Here is a pic of my rangie chop, same shape cab as yours,

I know, but mine's a 4 door not a 2 door like yours and I can't be fucked pissing around trying to make everything work. QLD is beyond anal when it comes to mods so anything half dodgy isn't going to cut it :!: :!:

Plus I'm single, don't have a maortage (yet :? ) so I don't mine forking out a few $$$ for one in all honesty.

ok got a full day on it today

sanded and primed the inside of the cab and some of the ourside

new air tank -

Image

LHS of the tray metal work is finished -

Image

Outside of cab semi sprayed -

Image

Inside done -

Image

and the new rear door. All made out of thin sheet metal the whole ally thing was taking far too long and my welder didn't have enough curry to get any consist welds out of it and Cig weld didn't make a Teflon liner for it so i gave up

Image

I used Narva number plate lights and a 55w helogin truck reverse light. i will also have 2 more of those light mounted in the recessed corners controlled by a switch in the cab for off road use only.

Hahah he did draw that tray on, i think it was a test of seeing what he wanted to do with it, His ute is sitting in my backyard at the moment i have a few pics of it on my photobucket i will put a link up.

His ute is choped very similar to yours but it has the back doors choped down so they still open, its a great truck, looks awesome.

He is selling it too if anyone is interested there is a link in the for sale section

how well will spotty's sit? tray door handle height (widest part of cab)

do a lap around the block, any wind noise??

no spotties on the hoop i have a light bar for that and you don't want want to know what i think of permanent light bars :x :x

Going to have to add some serious triangulation if you want that roll bar to be effective.

But you probably already know that. :finger:

Day 36

OK i went out this morning and hated the hoop so i cut it off and lowered it 50mm and shaped the corners a little now i am happy with it!

Image

Image

Image

I started the mudguards a while ago but lost interest due to the fact they are going to get torn off the 1 time i take it off road :censored2: but i need them to get engineered so they have to be put on. I will have a chain attached to the rear section of the mud flap so i can tie them up when off road this may make them last a little longer. for those playing at home they are just over 300 mm from the ground now so when i change the springs they will be about 250mm from the ground so they will pass engineering and be within the 300mm clearance when i have 35" tyres o also.

Image

I have a 'T' shape brace for the front too but didn't bolt it up yet.

is it just the picture or does the whole tray slope towards the cab ???

fark those mudflaps are FUGLY... but I understand they are just there to keep the engineer happy.. but jesus..

take the phone book out from under yr chair noob!!

It's does have a slight lean cause i did the mounts up near the cab too tight but the pics make it look worse. I think i will give the wheel arches round corners, i think that what makes them look pos atm.

Day 37

Update.
Tray came off today and i think my self and a mate almost crapped our pants!! Its on the heavy side but it didn't make any difference to the 270lb springs in the rear so i will still put 220lb soring in the rear and 180lb in the front.

Image

Image

So the under side is 97% finished with the welds i am going to give it a spray with some underbody paint to seal up any hole i might have missed and then the CP top will be welded on.

A whole day was pretty much wasted today and a mate and I tried to get my electric side mirrors to work without the electric seat fitted. I am putting Discovery D1a seats in it as i find them far more comfortable then rangie seats and they are not electric so they don't weight 400KG!! (so full set of leather seats will be up for sale if any one is interested. So i have a few questions for you Rover auto elecs..

Today we found that the elec mirrors in my 93 rangie are controlled by the ECU that also controls the seats :x :x :x due to the memory function etc. I havnt had a good look at rave yet but i will ask the questions anyway do all land rovers fitted with electric side mirrors and no electric seats have an ecu also? does anyone know a way of by passing the electric ECU under the seat?

We were going to make our wiring setup from the electric mirrors with a few relays etc but the switch uses the same 2 pins for down and left which really makes things hard! I know you are probably all saying just get manual controlled mirrors but i just can't let it go just yet I dont like being beaten by auto electrics!

getting very close now.....

Thanks to todays RDO I pushed ahead heaps! I am going to use that under car spray on tar on the under side of the tray then it's gunmetal Grey hammer tone for the rest of the tray.

thought you would have welded a thinner piece of tube in where you "made room" for the spare...

quite a lot of strength there that is now gone..

yeah it's going back i had some left over paint so i painted the other side but with the CP welded to the top it will add a lot of side way strength so i am not to concerned. mind you the colour of the tray is the colour of the inside of my lungs!!! who said smoking is bad for you!! :x :x :x :x
