Hi all, gee, its been a while, hasnt it?
Have not really got much done Im afraid....
Got my tierod done and in, got my lower rear arms in, fabbed up the Sliders and picked tham up from powdercoat yesterday, may try and fit em up tonight at the shop.
Still playing with coils, dropped the front another 10mm, and dropped a fair bit of the rate as well, but still not quite where I want it. I have decided to drop the overall height as much as physically possible, but still clear the 35's. May be some longer bumpstop action coming up...
STILL need to ge the lockers hooked up, might try and get Liam to give me a hand with that tomorrow after work.
Anyway, getting much closer now, will put some fresh pics up once the sliders are on.

Ok folks, here are some pics of my Sliders.
Made from a main rail of 75 x 75 x 3mm wall, with a 44mm tube acting as a tree slider. Doubles as a decent step too.
Also finally got my lockers hooked up and working.
Went out into the Mt Walker area yesterday with the Big Balls 4WD Club for a photoshoot with 4WD Custom Action mag, and gave the Rangie its first real tast of low range work. (pics to come soon)
To say I was happy would be an understatement. The Rangie went really well, smooth, quiet, and nice and slow offroad!

How did you mount the sliders to the sills?
Any chance of a pic of the mounting?

The main rail has a strap of 75 x 5 welded to it and it mounts through the sills. We have 3mm wall stainless crush tubes with 5mm plate in the inside of the sill, so the nut/washer can never be pulled through. The sills on a rangie are quite substantial, and this is quite a strong mount, with any load spread right across the span of the sill.
I expect it to stand up to all but an Outers flaming
Will try and get some pics. The only other thing I want to do is upgrade my bolts to High Tensile, as I just grabbed what was handy at the time.

Nah, Im pretty happy with the current rate of coil, ride height and valving of the shocks. Seems really well balanced off road with no horrible weight transfer issues or unstableness. I look forward to following your build though, make sure you get lots of pics!!

ive been mounting them on RR and disco's for years, plenty strong enough, no flaming required

Thought Id throw up a couple of pics of the Rover in action, just to show that it does go offroad!
Also did a shoot with 4WD Action a while ago and the beast will be apearing in issue 124 I beleive.
Havent really had much to do to it of late, just been out enjoying it. Looking forward to warmer weather and getting out to some of my fave fishing spots in it this summer.

Nice work.
Hi Rick and others. A little bit of testing has been done on my 3" lift flexy coils. 600mm shocks can be used on the rear without them dislodging.
When you move shock mounts I don't think that a 32" shock (820mm) would be out of the question if you tie them in. I have normal duty and heavy duty rear coils. More testing is required before I get a bunch of sets made.
My normal price for 4 flexy coils (Rear flexy coils and front linear coils) is $350 however I would do it cheaper then that for Rick if you want to try them. If you don't like them you get your money back. (4-5" lift linear coils are also available but I don't expect them to be big sellers now flexy coils are here) They will also be available for the Disco 2.

Rovacraft had those exact arms on there shop floor when i was in there last. If you in need of some cranked arms I'd give them a call for price in Aus.
edit* in your for sale add Rick you say you wanna go fast again. You talking bout off road racing or on road? Just curious.

Def on road (or should I say, circuit). Would like to get back into supersprints, had a ball in the old days as a member of ARDC. Hafta look into getting my CAMS lisence back again too. Sorta got my heart set on an older crumblydore, maybe a VC with the big flares and a late model LS1 or similar with 5 speed and state-of-art suspension/brake package.
But who knows, as the old saying goes, beggers cant be choosers. We will see what happens.

why couldn't this be up for sale in a couple of months when I could afford to get it. You don't want to race a 4.2 diesel GU instead of the commodore, think of it as a challenge

Hey Rick,
Really nice rig mate, shame you got to sell it, but hey, you gotta do what you gotta do....
Just curious about the wheel spacers though? you said you used 1.5" spacers, so did you get the wheels with the standard LC offset???
Looking at doing the 60 diff thing shortly and would appreciate any advice or tips...

My wheels are 17x9 with only a -9 offset (I think...memory is getting a little cloudy). Good offset like -44 probably would have seen me get away with it.

Mate the rangie looks great and yep its a shame ya gota sell it is it still up for sale ???
Also is there any chance of some pics or specs on the diff swap as ive just been offered a 60 as parts and the diffs look like they need a new home under my rangie

Pics I cant help you with, we were going at 100mph and only managed a couple of shots of the car with no diffs under it.
As mentioned earlier, the 60 diffs are narrower than the rangie items, so running spacers is a must.
No longer up for sale, as it has been sold! New owner Steve took delivery this morning and he is as happy as could be. I just hope he gets to use it more than I did!!!

Yep thanks for that tho how much narrower are the 60 diffs compaired to the rangie items as for running spacers thats not a problem tho maby some rims with the right amount of offset will do ...
Also congrats to steve you will love the rangie there a great all round truck with great comfort and heaps of style

I did it. I bought a Rangie. Everyone here is laughing at me. I probably deserve it too, I know jack about em. Its a 92 RR "Sherwood" limited edition. 3.9 & 4spd auto. Nothing is standard. Now, where did I put that spanner.....
