Tks, these will never be a cheap intercooler compared to what's on the market. The water pump is a couple of hundred, the 90 degree speed flow fittings $45 each you need 8 plus 8 straight ones for the other end. Radiators and piping. The machined ends caps are cost effective, it's ok doing them as a one off for your own use, but when you start to add the hours up doing it like that no body would be interested as the cost would be way too hi. It all adds up, but I do believe you get what you pay for, these Laminova cores have a huge heat soak and excellent dissipation and there extruded design gives excellent strength, just hope we can keep picking them up on Ebay for a reasonable price.
At the end of the day an intercooler like mine will be cheaper than what Awill4x4 is fabricating, it all comes down to what you want and are prepared to pay for as well . Building it into the plenum has some good performance attributes. I think our final costs and price will be of interest to those who need something that works so well off road other wise I would not be investing in 100 end caps.
All ready for final testing just need to add a loop of stainless steel braided hoes and plug the air back in and drop it in the water tank.

A third design is underway, these three will be the mainstay of what we have in mind for now depending on the application they go into and where the air goes in and out

How many cores to replace a PWR 6X10 barrel? Or isn't it that easy?
A new manifold for mine with these would be easy as then I could use top feed injectors which are a lot more readily avaialble.
93 Nissan Pathfinder / Terrano Turboed VH45, GQ Trans and T-case, coil overs, hydraulic winch and fair bit of other stuff. (Currently a pile of parts in the workshop)

It's not really a question of HP but how much boost are you running and your estimated intake temps. Laminova cores will wipe the floor with the PWR intercoolers I believe, but I'm biased. Awill4x4 who builds intercoolers both air to air and air to water (custom) had never seen these cores until I asked him to weld mine together and was at first quite skeptical. Now he's a convert
4 off these core will flow far more air than an 80mm throttle body. How big is your throttle body or your most restrictive point on your intake?
One point here is the Laminova cores are extruded and far stronger by design than anything PWR have to offer. But at $200+each new you expect something special.
I have the standard 90mm VH throttle body and have 10psi of boost.
I haven't checked pre I/C temps so don't know what they are.
Reading some other stuff that says 150p per core approx so all that sort of indicate 4 cores would do what I want.
So basically it would be 4 x cores @ $200 each, 8 x end caps @ $30 each, 4 x tubes @ $50 each and a new intake to house it all. Plus a whole lot of fitting etc
All the parts would be under $2k which isn't that bad so I'd be able to get the whole job done for probably about $4k and would have PWR to sell and as they are so dear new that would get a bit. Definitely affordable I just need to convince the financial controller it is a value for money investment!!!!!!!!

End plates to suit are available too.
4 Cores will flow more than a 90mm throttle body, 10 PSI Will generate around 80-90 degrees of heat at full boost.
A laminova intercooler will flat line your intake temps just above ambient as it does mine at 9PSI.
May I ask why you need the scaffold tubing? Couldnt you do with out it? Is it to control air flow?
I think the sizing you are making now would be good for a universal cooler that would sit under the bonnet.

Yes the tubing controls the air flow over the cores this is an important part of the Laminova design, I just found that the I/D of scaffold tube is perfect substitute for the genuine housing.
4 cores is a good all round I believe, it has great heat soak and dissipation.
Laminova's R/D department recommended 3 min, 4 ideal all though I had allready elected to use all 4 as thats how many I bought. http://forum.ih8mud.com/2570931-post15.html
Matt, could you do a sketch showing the air flow through your intercoolers? Showing the slots in the tubes, where they are sealed against each other and the internal plates in the i/c body that seal and direct the air flow. I'm pretty sure I've got it but would like some clarification.

First lot of tubes are ready and all spoken for going to have to make some more I think

The best way I can describe this is like slicing air with Aluminum razor blades, thousands of them. Even Andy at Dzltec was quite surprised at the actual size and construction of the cores. It's hard to comprehend some of there attributes until you actually have one in hand.
