I get so sick of this site and the people who belittle anyone who wants to do something to THEIR RIG other than just bolt on something off the shelf from ARB or similar......

the question I think needs answering here is, is 4k over the top for a 6 inch lift.... without actually sorcing the bits I think it may be... although to do a lift like that you will need new panards, castor correction longer brake lines... maybe drop steering arm.....& bigger bump shops or hydraulic ones... thats on top of the springs & shocks....
If you are near Cranbourne look up Smithies outback gear, he is good with datsuns and pretty well priced....

Good luck with it and get some up skirt down top pics to post up on here....that'll shut em up

so if the opinion doesn't match yours it is then bs. The thing with public forums is that people will disagree and that is a good thing. Experience is there to be shared. You can listen to as much as you like or ignore as much as you like. But to not have differing opinions would make it a very boring and pointless forum.

I can't stand the attitude of people who, if te opnion doesn't match theirs, have to resort to swearing, name calling or generally calling people faggots or that they need to harden up etc.

Take on board what people say, as many have experience and knowledge and you can learn a lot from what they say. you never know sometimes you might learn something.

I dont have a problem with other peoples opinions, even negative ones.
But yes this forum has to many bull shit opinions.
Im not talking about the constructive negative comments that I may disagree with, but it is no help being told you may be compensating for something in only the third post in. I thought this was a modified 4wd forum.
This forum has gone to the dog's, good luck with all you mod's guys but get your advise elsewere, have to filter though to much crap to get a decent opinon on here.

End rant

6" inch lift is not that big especially on a low-rider like a GQ.
It doesn't matter what the original height is, the problems associated with a 6 inch lift have nothing to do with the height under the sills, the fact is Nissan like every other manufacturer designed the suspension and steering for stock height, the higher you lift them the worse the steering and suspension geometry gets. Having the panhards and steering on such a large angle is not a good idea. In my opinion a 3 or 4 inch lift on a Patrol is as high as you should go.

Hey Guys,

I'm looking at purchasing a GQ Patrol LWB and want a 6" suspension lift with no body lift and rang around a fair few places in VIC and im looking at $4,000 installed or $2800 on its own... could this be right?

Everyone that I've spoken too does not reccomend it for a street registered car for legalities which doesnt bother me but also because they strongly say the ride will be compltetly shit which is bothering me a bit as im planning on going on a 5,000km + holiday early next year around some parts of australia

Cheers,
Maciek
Yes you can for this price but I will drive like s&*(. Throw 5K+ + fitting and it will drive nice! Put better brakes on too and dont drive too fast. You can roll pretty much any car at 110kph epesially a 4x4 of any sort stock or modded.

What ever you do is up to you.

Brag about driving an echo???? C'mon man, I wasn't bragging at all. I was merely stating that he shouldn't pick on them as they are a fantastic LITTLE car. A fantastic LITTLE pizza delivery car to be exact. But in reality I was just joking around .. I thought that was too obvious but maybe not for some : :D

And no I've never felt vulnerable in it. Ever. Why should I feel vulnerable in it? I don't have an inferiority complex and I'm not trying to compensate for any err size issues  . Therefore I don't drive it like a formula ricer race car and I avoid tailgating, wild overtaking manouvers (even with the massive BHP at my disposal) and any other dangerous situations. It's called defensive driving ... try it out some day .. it's an amazingly refreshing driving experience.

Although with a 6 inch lift and 38 inch tyres, it's won't be so little anymore will it. Can Christover please provide me with one of his chop shots here? Just take a pic of a 2003 Echo hatchback and lift it 6 inches and fit 38 inch tyres .. I just want to see what it will look like before I commit the funds :D

that is exactly right simo, it was a JOKE pajero boy
people get so worked up on this forum, for farks sake

i agree in a way, u dont need all that lift in most situations, but lets admit it, all of us (well ok most) here are enthusiasts in the sport, so we all modify our trucks to suit what we want and do, and personally, i think 4inchs of lift, and maybe some bodylift is plenty, but if the dude wants 6 inch coils, he can have them, that is the beauty of being an INDIVIDUAL!!!

thats exactly right
he has to work it out for himself, that if he is happy with his truck riding like that, then that is his decision, but as alot of people on this thread have said, dont be a jewish fu*ck, spend the money and get dropboxes, or snake racing arms, and adjustable panhards, and all the good sh#t, then u know u would have done verything possible 2 keep it as real as u can.
drive it like a 4 wheel drive, not your shit r34 skyline rice burner

i was also got told like you that im stupid for going 6" lift, so i went 6" anyway and am running 35" MTZ and i have no problem at all. bit of body roll without the sway bar but other than that drives fine.. its not a race car so drive it accordinly and you will be fine.. my mates boss has 7" suspension lift and he also has no problem with it and goes anywhere he wants it to. my mate has a 7" lift in a 80series with 36's and he loves it..
in saying that tho.. a 5000klm trip is a big trip and a big lift like that is probly not suited to that.

Finally I was starting to wonder where you had gotten too. Anyway the pic is close enough although mine is a white 2 door with Eagle Boys light box on the roof. Can you please put a 6 inch lift under it (if you've already done that then another 6 inches would be poifect :D )

I only read the first two pages of this thread and that was enough for me.
So apologies if this has already been said.

The original poster said he was planning a trip around Australia.

While 35's and a big lift are going to be useful in some situations, driving around Australia is definitly not one of them! Peronally, I couldnt think of a worse way to set up a rig for a trip like this.

The fuel economy, tyre noise/wear and the crap cruising performance are the main ones which come to mind but the list goes on.

Thats why I'd be talking him out of 35's and 6".

did 8000kms with a 6 inch lift to airs rock, didnt need it but was all good , adds about 1-2 litres per hundred with drag , would be a pain in the diff if pulled over and reamed though for height, go for it dood and enjoy
