Hobbsy is gunna ring me as theyre doing the "who won?" bit so I'll post it ASAP. It went on a bit last year with some "not so" funny blokes but I think they'll get the presentation done b4 5 as some teams will be heading home as soon as they can so the can get ready for work on Monday, while others will still be there late, like we were last year, and head home tomorrow with hangovers.

Quick Update

Have just heard that presentation still hasn't started, they are running an auction at the moment, with the Outback Challenge banner fetching $700 odd to go to Greenie towards getting one of his two trashed cars back on the road.

Between myself and Jonesy we will update you as the info comes in.

Cheers, Thommo

MORE

Just kidding but out of interest Both Hobzee & Kieth broke their watches during the week and Keith's camping gear got run over in the camp squashing his lightforce spotlight and thermos which was apparently a Simex. HEASDLINE: Simex squashes PROCOMP Camp.
hehehehehehe!!!!

Anxiously waiting for a call to hear more so stay posted.

Yeah, I think your right, he had the pace last year but bombed out on a couple of stages which cost him a top 3 finsh but I'd say he's in the top 3 this year.

C'mon Jonesy we are waiting  :D

Yeah, spot on xfactor, thats the car I navigate in. It's the coiled beige 75 series with 350 chev. That was the first year we competed when the winch wall or cliffhanger was at the back of Nundooka homestaed. Driving the wall wasn't a bad effort considering we already had a bent front diff housing at the time and said we would nurse it through the rest of the event. :D

They have done it again! I was in there group when they won it the first time and witnessed first hand the effort thats required to take out the OBC. They stayed up all night for two nights in a row welding up body and suspension mounts in the rangie and really earnt it the first time and no doubt put in just as hard this year.

Well done boys and once again the Mantle of Outback Challenge Winner remains in Victoria.

Congrats to all those that competed, I'M JEALOUS. and hopefully I will be joining you all next year!

****************NEWS FLASH-HOT OF THE PRESS******************

UTTER CONFUSION REIGNS AFTER OBC PRESENTATION AGAIN!

Hearing rumours of many unhappy competitors after the presentation and of a few teams possibly putting in protests due to results that just don't add up.

Many teams are back at the caravan park standing round involved in dicussions and comparisons of previous years.

I know this is disappointing and a bit of a downer on the event but I'm just repeating what I've been told and thought you all would be interested in whats going on.

Will post updates as I hear them.

Billy cooked the auto on wednesday and was towed back to Broken Hill. Spoke to him tonite, he is a very pissed off puppy, more dissapointed than anything. I will call Luke shortly and will ask him about Matt. Will also try to get more information on the protest, from what i hear it is 2nd vs 1st.

Matt Bolger from Kowari Motors had an interesting day yesterday. His vehicle was submerged in the dam with only the spot lights visible. He was not impressed. It is still driving but i think it will have electrical issues in time. They finished around 25th. Well done for their first attempt. Everyone is now drinking and worrying about the protests later. Good idea !

Congratulations to the winners and all who competed. It’s great to see the first international team crack the top ten, and an impressive achievement to make 4th, well done Bruce and Freddy. I would have loved to be there to join the party, maybe next year. Great to see Rangies in the top two, pouring out an understated 120-130 KW, horsepower doesn’t mean victory, but it would be fun to have. Well done on the updates Jonsey.

Looking forward to all the story’s…
