Small update.
Engine bolted in for the final time. New engine mounts and engine lowered slightly to avoid rubbing on the bonnent.
Front clip and body bolted down for final time.
Track bar nearly finished. Just have to weld on diff mounts.
Fuel system sorted and running. External electiric fuel pump is much better than the electric pump that used to be mounted in the sierra tank. The engine used to appear to starve for fuel,(maybe not enough pressure), now it just roars to life. :D
Still lots of little shyte to do.

Does anyone know what redline is for a Vitara 1.6 16v EFI? Does it have a rev limiter?

Yes they are rev limited. Not sure about the limit though, have never been lookin at the tach while puttin the boot in :finger: my guess is 5.5k - 6.5k

the tube clip came off the old M&M zook. it was cheaper and easier to get i second hand than to bother with building my own. i was originally gonna run the old front guards with some cutting, but the tube front came up for sale.

the fronts are rancho 99012's. they're mounted with shock hoops and some short flat down close to the diff.

i would like it lower. it is fairly wide but i'm not sure about the high for the wheelbase. at this stage it will stay as is just so i can drive it. then i will play around with it latter and try to lower it a bit.

Picked up my new brake lines today :D steel braided, with the length of the lines the braided will be heaps better, ,and only $75 each, custom length.

Finished making my track bar, with the help of a mate.
single link style. very happy with the way it works. :D
dumped the clutch at a few thousand rpm, no axle wrap just wheel spin  really happy with the compact design, it should allow me to drop me fuel tank a bit lower.

cool work on the track bar even though it only has the one link i wouldnt call it a one link track bar. it is still gunna work the same as a 2 link track bar

Where did you snaffle the spherical bearing from Chris?

When I rose-jointed the front of the Ruby Suby I got four from Blackwoods $30ea. Have you been reading Jennifer's catelogue when you're supposed to be working?

yeah that was the idea, it was a fair bit of stuffing around to make it. But now that is in i'm really happy with it. hopefully it'll be strong enough.

how long do you think that heim is going to last in bending ?

Nice work on the track bar. I am looking at making one soon. AT rest is the shackl as far back as it can go did you leave some movement for when the diff comes up.

Just trying to figure out whether to have mine hard up against the stopper at normal sitting hight or not.

Cheers

nice work there mate, but as redzook said its a 2 link trac bar coz it has 2 mounting points on the diff 2 stop the rap.....

but yeah if it work then its all good.....

and also i dont think the spherical joint will flog out i had the same one on mine 4 like 18moths and its still good

yeah i'd probably call it a virtual two link, but don’t really know what its called. It has all benefits of a two link, but in a compact design that suited my centred diff really well. From side on if you were to draw a line from the bottom bracket back up to the hemi,(as if it was a two link) there is a fair size triangle created.

It works well in the driveway

im not bagging your truck, its looking good

my point is that heims are not suppose to be used in bending, they are designed for tension and compression loads. ive seen plenty of these fatigue and crack under bending loads.

luckily its just a track bar, coz if it snaps, your axle will stay where it is thanks to the leaf springs.
