I had it on my hilux (for about a year) and loved it. worked really well. Never bothered engineering it.

For the time poor, and mechanically simple; can someone do a quick write up of this setup.
What is needed to purchase (parts, models)
What is needing to be modified (cutting, welding, handbrake cable)
What is needed to be done, once parts are fitted (break bleed, master cyclinder).
This would be helpful if someone had the time to do this.

I have done this conversion, but I am currently on holidays in Darwin, so its a bit hard to do the write up and post pictures.
My set up is on a 60 series cruiser, standard discs on front, surf 4 x 45mm piston calipers, 80 series m/c and booster. rear is GQ discs over 80 hubs, brumby calipers and a wilwood adjustable proportioning valve.
I also have a few issues to sort out, (I have to bleed brakes again as there is air in the line) and also my pedal is very hard, not sure if the booster I have is not a dual diaphragm, or the pads I am using need to be changed.
I believe OZRUNNER has done this conversion, maybe he can post some info?

The calipers are front subaru L series ( the round body shape before the boxy shape). The brackets from roc70y. Rear rotors off a gq patrol. M12x 50mm bolts x 8 from memory, posible m10's, can't remember. from memory you need 80 series front brake lines ( the ones that go from the hub to the housing) to adapt the caliper to the existing hilux hard lines.
ToNkA wrote:What is needing to be modified (cutting, welding, handbrake cable)
Remove all existing brake assembly so you are left with a bare axle with no brakes or backing plate. I never bothered with the hand brake but subaru front cables were the correct length to reach the hilux hand brake lever that is mounted on the drivers side underneath the car. From memory a bracket had to be fabbed up to adapt the two. I left the proportioning valve as is and i worked well.
ToNkA wrote:What is needed to be done, once parts are fitted (break bleed, master cyclinder).
Bleed lines, i used an 80 booster and MC and i don't know whether the hilux set-up would be sufficient.
Good luck guys.
It worked great for me and i hope works well for you all. With the front brake set-up that i had i could lock up all 4 36" tyres at 60 km's if i wanted.
Cheers

a sixty series is very different to whats involved in a hilux because of the full floating assembly in the 60 series vs the semi floating in the lux.
Im looking at the full floating/disk brake conversion using the supra calipers on the rear of the lux if the aussie dollar ever improves

I run`em and engineered aswell I used the origanal brake lines of the suby and bolted the hard line to that and had to grind the inner top part of the caliper to clear the rotors,I`ve got another set up aswell wich was joel`s origanal set up.

Also there are to types of suby calipers in 85 mine are from the starwagon and is probably why i had to grind the caliper but they have a bigger brake pad
