yah awesome comp
some great driving and some CRAP weather LOL but it evened out to a sweet event
no pics or video from me was too busy spectating and left my camera at home
also who saw the pos brown civic drive out from the camp ground where 4x4's where struggling ?? LOL i hate my car i really do

ARRH home now.Firstly l will thank the property owners for making us all feel at home giving us their full support throughout the weekend. To our Sponsers ( MARKS 4WD ADAPTORS , 4WD T.V ,SUN F.M ,CHEEZY RACING , OFFROAD IMAGES and ALL THE MEDIA SUPPORT FROM DIRT COMP ,4X4 AUSTRALIA ,4WD MONTHLY AND OVERLANDER MAGIZINES ).
Next all our committed teams for their efforts in making this another bench mark comp for us here at OZROCK in our short time on the event calender.
Also the supporters (Victorians mostly) proving that they are tru sporting nuts, rain ,hail or shine (we got all of them by the way) couldn't stunt the atmosphere that grew stage by stage. The weather was some what of a disapointment but it made the comp just that little bit harder, ln the aproachment lines due to the moisture on the ground. But once on the rocks there was no MERCY, the drive train breaking terrain was delt a blow by blow appoach by all the drivers, having the never say die attitude that we have come to expect from these teams.
The tracks we set (Guts being the primary track setter along with cheezy)were quite tight (technical) as well as being challenging and the bounus lines were a combination of the two, proving no easy feat even for rear steer vehicles . The skills shown was exactly what were looking for from the drivers, always pushing the thinking and driving envelope to that next level.
There were two brands of tyres using the sticky compound rubber (MAXXIS creepy crawlies and MICKEY THOMPSONS claws ) that proved to do just that, stick, they stuck really well, these tyres are just a sample of what will soon be a huge edge over others but become something of the norm in this exciting direction of our sport.
We hope you all, new and old to the sport, recognise how much we at OZRock appreciate your support at these events. We will continue to strive towards making this the biggest growing motor sport in Australia. At no time will we forget that it is all about having fun in which our sport/passion of 4x4ing/rockcrawling is all about. Remember this

Got to say it was an Ace event, and a big thanks to sponsers, and all involved. There are a few people involved in OZrock that put in the hard yards, and dont even get to drive, much respect and thanks to them the most.

Well done Mick and james, you workd well as a team and gave some very crowd pleasing moments on Saturday. 2 rollovers and a balls out attempt on the bonus line on Stage 4. Rodent seems to be working pretty well and once you get the seat time you will be a great team.
Pete Antunac and his buggy have to be seen to be believed. The way he knows his vehicle and how to drive it is amazing. Combined with a very well setup vehicle he is going to be very hard to beat.
The courses were amazingly difficult with some very scary potential for damage and injury if things went pear shaped. Which they almost did on Stage 3. Rob was very lucky to have not gone over the edge of the drop off with his recovery. But it was a very unlikely thing to havve happened. I really liked the way the organisers then jumped on the problem straightaway and changed the course to make sure it would not happen again.
Good event, unfortunate that the turn out was a big as hoped and that not all the bugies could make it.

Great event, congaratulations to all involved. FireBug should be amoungst it next round! Pity Pip and Tim couldn't make it in the ABT buggy... I guess Tim getting married on the Saturday was an OK excuse.

I didn't see a score board up anywhere, so it was hard to know how everyone was travelling. Pretty obvious on Sat that Pete was in front, and I think Cal in 2nd... but without a score board you didn't know for sure.
Nasty weather... unfortunately, probably the nastiest weekend of the year.
Oh, by the way, I have quite a few pics on my camera that have at least 12 officials in the shot (orange and yellow jackets). This is still waaaay too many to be standing in front of the paying spectators.

interesting comments about the marshals in the way. I was actually thinking they were doing a great job keeping out of the way this time. I don't think I ever had a problem with marshals getting in the way. The couple of times they were in front of where I was standing they were very conscious of thhe spectators and generally got down out of the way.
I think this round was a little less spectator friendly than the first time there. Especially Stage 4 where the best view was from the safety cleared area (which was good that the area was kept clear). I don't reckon you could have done anything different though for spectators. It must be a hard job to balance the needs of the spectators whilst maintaining quality stages.
Also once again well done Cheezy with his commentating. Actually maintaining an informative commentary, keeping spectators out of the way of damger, getting parents to collect their feral children, promoting the sausage sizzle and sponsors and cracking a few jokes all day was tiring just listening to him. I bet he must be itching to get out there and drive rather than talk about it.
The media turn out seemed to be petty good. From what I could gather there was Offroad images, Dirtcomp, someone else and 4WDTV. Simon does a great job getting right in there for the great shots without getting run over or in the way of the competitors or the spectators. Can't wait to see some of the footage he got.

I have a fair working knowledge of the best positions to shoot pix from. But unfortunately so do the professionals, hence I had an awful lot of pix of the back ends of media people. I had to fight the urge to cuss at themmoose wrote:media........
