Ok guys I drowned in shite somewhere around page 3 so forgive me if this has already been addressed.

Cages and safety equipment are something that I've been harping on to some time,
I've spoken at length to officials in the CCDA, as well as competition organisers like Hobzee, Pete, Dave etc.
The specs as has been pointed out are minimum requirements,
but at the end of the day what's an extra couple of hundred dollars in material cost to have a stronger cage and a bit more bracing ?
especially when you consider the cost of a lot of the other componentry being used in these rigs.

The key to strength in any cage is triangulation and load sharing which brings me back to this

While an exo may protect your bodywork, it will never protect you as well as an internal cage.

Majority understand the minimum requirement and its really stuff all extra. It's more there is no guidelines for soft top truggys and exo cages.

Would have thought with TT only a month and a bit away CCDA would have made some effort to get this sorted by now ??

Tuff truck is sorted and each competitor has been contacted regarding their vehicles for thos years event.

I'm still yet to hear an answer from ccda tho for the future.

Well i was told over a year and a half ago CCDA were going to be bringing out a design/ set of specific rules and still nothing has come out of it..

I'm just going to build a 4point (or what ever the min is) internal cage and build a exo from 32nb to protect the body..

Seems to still have alot of grey area

Building an internal cage for ccda spec is better and then have the nb pipe exo has if you get to bad a dent in the exo and its your only cagethey can stop you from competing until the piece is replaced

Do you mean if I only had a NB pipe exo? I'm gonna build both but the exo will be segmented with tube joiners so I can in bolt it all and replace in small pieces plus will make it easier to build/ paint

I'm not set on NB pipe exo but am thinking of it due to cheapness of materials.
Though having to spend $500 on a NB die will offset the cost initially as I already have a 1 3/4 die.

I also have 50x50x5 sliders and don't want to replace them with tube as there solid as.. Would building off this with a, b, c hoops make a 1 3/4" cds exo not compliant? What about the cromo tube joiners?

compliant internal and a what ever exo is the go. if you dint the exo just chop out the bit and replace.
nb is much cheaper. min spec cds bends very easy

Im just gonna start building one in about 2 weeks with 1 3/4" 2.6 wall cds

I thought u couldn't have shs as a slider the a, b pillar hoop mounts to but I guess u can, a hilux competed at tt with one?

I wouldnt use that logic. It may well bite you in the arse if its not the case.

At this stage im not competing in comps req certified cages as the only one that did was toperi. Ill just make it out of the 1 3/4" cds as its better to have something then nothing. Been waiting for rules to be a bit more clear and not keep changing but its pretty clear there isnt gonna be any definte set of rules apart from excluding exo's completely and just using internls.
