We're nearly there. Got a clutch hydraulic problem to sort out on Friday morning and get the truck packed. Also gonna have to drive down on the 35's as the new tyres aren't balanced and aren't up for a drive down on the black top.

Well what can I say, possibly my shortest comp ever. Friday night had 1 special stage which kicked off around 7.30pm with all 15 competitors taking part in random order. 1st car in lost a tyre I think and took about an hour or so before the second car went in. They snapped a radius arm, shock absorber, shockie mount and did allsorts of damage and again took close to an hour before #3 was running. By the time we went in 7th place it was 1am and we were going well until I snapped a pitman arm, bent the tie rod, drag link, and snapped the big mother steering damper. Winched off the track that's where we stayed for the night, missed all the stages today while repairing the damage and decided to call it quits and save the car for another day.

When I left the leading cars would probably have been (in no particular order) Chris Woods, Peter Lepherd, Rod Reardon and Steve Currell.

Carnage (besides mine) included.

Broken Nissan Patrol radius arm, shocky etc. as above
Broken Range Rover transfer case
Several broken/burned out winches and broken cables (mine included)
2 Nissan Patrol Rollovers (1 which drowned in water at the same time but was going again, the other happened after an alln ight effort to repair radius arm etc.)
1 Suzuki Rollover
Fair amount of panel and barwork damage

Can't really comment on any other stages as I didn't see or partake in them.

Big thanks to Chris and Troy for lending me tools and parts to get me home. Also thanks to Sean and Murray for recovering me from the gully last night. Finally thanks to Rob Clark and all those involved in organising the GC2000, it really is great comp - next year I'll do more than 100m!

Steve

PS Was rainy and drizzley all night last night and was very cold. Suspect it will be colder tonight - hence why I'm at home looking forward to a warm night in my own bed!

Carnage galore. Wish I was there  . I am glad it was some one else in the mud having a sleep and not me. I am glad that they continued on though.

That is a bit of bad luck Steve. Are you guys doing the international by any chance or the Genie next weekend. You might have some better luck next time.

Nice photos.
