Its been said manytimes.
I do feel for the poor phuck who cannot afford to fix this lemon of an donk. Imagine payin 40k for a car, it blows up a week later and your handed a $15k bill...
That would ruin many people... Theres been dozens of grenades sold on ebay/forums with blown donks.. people cutting their losses.. Which is wrong when there is a known fault with the engine...
atleast wait on my next one before it goes boom ....again..

mate on a serious note sorry for you bad run
but blaming the 3L for here leaving is a big charge. Think you best ebay it also and cut your loss's. Plenty more fish and 4wds in the sea.
Chin up mate.
Picked up timer today and chatted with an old boy picking a new wagon up as he saw mine and wanted a yak about it... said extended warranty is allyou need to know.. be bought 3 k worth that makes it 5 or 6 years i think.

at the time i needed a new car and wasnt fussy and this hasnt exactly been the best thing for me.
whilst driving along the dag highway in queensland i was overtaking someone on an overtaking lane, up a hill doing bout 130klms and bang she went. Blue smoke billowing out i pulled over and it wouldnt stop, obviously just running on oil so i just stalled it to stop it.
long story short 2 pistons are shattered and the other 2 are cracked aswell as the head has a hairline fracture along it somewhere, and also the turbo has shat itself too apparently.
now with todays money problems and my first newborn well on its way im stuck with wat i should do. should i borrow more money and get a new motor and keep it or sell it. sell it as is and cut my losses and find something a lil cheaper.
if anyone has any helpful ideas as to wat i should do feel free to give some advice, and as for u people who say shoulda got a 4.2 etc. YEH I KNOW NOW!!!. but its too late
anyone who has had a similar problem i could do with some contacts for new motors etc or anything that would help.
cheers and keep on wheeling

Why the *#ck would you be driving a 3T, full size 4wd wagon like a sports car?
How could you have missed ALL the -'ve press on ZD30's!! I've had one from new (2001) and now has 180 000km's on it and it still going.
Whilst I would be foolish to fail to acknowledge the obvious problems this engine has, I would be more foolish to drive a full chassis'd 4b at 130 km/h up the D'ag range!!!
I feel sorry for all the ZD30 owners whose motor self destructed when they were driving legally and SENSIBLY (ie driving it like a the TRUCK that it is and NOT a goddamn sports car!!). But NOT for anyone who drives with very poor judgement!!
Wake up to yourself!!

I wouldnt say driving at 130 is driving like it is a sports car.. plenty of people drive them faster than that...

If its the part of the D'ag Highway that I'm thinking of (the only overtaking lane) its a great little bit of road in an SS (I drive that way every day to work), but a Patrol is TRUCK, its NOT a car. Driving it at 130+ is dangerous and stupid IMHO.
Particularly one motored by a small turbo diesel!!
I must be weird, sorry!

Dude!
After years of driving my old Mav' and my GU, I can honestly say that I have NEVER driven that fast in either one! These are full chassised trucks, for all intents, purpose and indeed design! Its behaviour like that that plasters ALL 4wd'ers with the 'irresponsible idiots' tag!!
I would NEVER drive a lifted 4b with big tyres (up to 10" of sidewall!!) over 100km/h, and why would you? I admit that my old vehicle was illegal in some respects and had no choice but to cop to it if I got pulled up. But I would NEVER draw the crabs on myself (and other 4wd'ers!) by driving like that!!
And THAT doesn't even begin to explore how you could NOPT have heard about the issues with ZD30's! ANYONE who has EVER seen a post of 'Bogged's' could NOT have known that ZD30's have issues. I know 'cos I have one, but how could you NOT know!!
Seriously!!
Personally, I think you can do stuff to reduce the likelihood of it exploding, but if it does, replace the motor with ANYTHING but a replacement ZD30 (except and RD 28T of course!!)
My 2c worth. Oh, and I don't drive any 'busted up pieces of shit' except for the 1991 Ford Laser that I bought for $700. And I wouldn't drive THAT at 130km/h either!!!

esky and a couple of swags, pissheads and supplies and she's moaning and groaning like the girl in the next camp to sit at 115km/hr.
And as we are daily reassured on the roads especially in qld......
Speeding doesn't kill, people who can't drive kill
