A question regarding the vehicle insurance. What exactly is it supposed to cover as most insurance policies will not cover vehicles that are used in competition. Some will only cover vehicle usage on publicly mapped roads and even some mapped roads seem questionable.

Do we need to have a policy that has special conditions attached

Can someone shed some light on this topic please

Cheers

Competition insurance covers you whilst within the competition confines
Your vehicle insurance covers you whist travelling around the rest of site in same way as you are covered for an accident in a shopping centre carpark.

jono4x4 The policy they require, I believe, is the simple 3rd party property insurance.

Most insurance policy's only cover you if your vehicle is in road worthy condition.
I don't think 37" tyres would fall under "roadworthy" so check your policy fine print, before you make a claim.
Keep it simple

you may as well be unregistered uninsured & unengineered , because none of these will help you if you are wearing 37"s , beadlocks & a roll cage.
Any vehicle with these mods at the time of the event has been modified post engineering therefor is non compliant with the rules.

this has been bought up time and time again, for every comp, this is the way the event is being run, why did it need to be bought up again?

Personally I wouldn't want to see that tested....

But anyways, good luck with the event, hope it goes well and without incident.

Pre-scruitineering this Saturday (13th Feb)

Location: Eastern Creek Raceway (enter via gate 7 Pit entry)
Time: 8am to 4pm

If you wish to book a specific time email: 4x4masters@4x4masters.com

Pre-scruitineering is not compulsory but it is advised as it gives you time to make any alterations which may be needed
If you turn up on event day and do not pass it is likely that you will not have time to fix things thus will not run

4 x 4 masters - pre scrutineering

Post by GU Junkie »

After all the concerns and discussion re vehicle regs how did everyone go wth pre srutineering today?

Any surprises for anyone?

Just curious. I dont get to drive until round 2 and therefore didnt worry about it yet but would be interested in how it went, other than wet and muddy of course.

The main things people were knocked back on:

Recovery points - The were either in accessible or not up to the job. Factory points just do not cut it. Factory points need to be laminated to comply. If using bolt on hooks they must be rated and stamped such. Over engineered is what is required for recovery points.

Recovery Shackles - 4.7t rating not 3.25t and they must be stamped

Fire extinguishers - Need 1 x 1.5kg or 2x 0.9kg. Plastic mounting brackets are not accepted

Kills switch - Must isolate the battery and kill the engine.

A lot of guys did not bring their first aid kits, helmets or window nets as well

Hrm sounds like only minor issues of technicality,
i can see exactly how all of those ppl failed based on these things though....
I would of failed as well by the sounds of it ha ha ha

ill keep those points in mind when i run in the later rounds...

How are the tracks holding up with this insane level of rain?
I know macarthur 4wd are out there today again doing some work and play, interested to hear the reports

I think its fair enough for an engineering cert. even though most vehicles would have to make changes to be competitive (37's beadlocks etc) however one of our guys looking into engineering can only get passed with max 4inch lift.

I get the impression (from what I was told) Engineers are inspecting cars to the newer laws (vsi50) even though its not law yet. They have to do what the RTA tells them. So most guys have to engineer a 4inch lift with 33's and then run larger lift, 37's with beadlocks?

doesn't make sense to me
