That is an awesome looking truck, the photos are great. How high off the ground does that spare sit, it must be over chest height.

You going to make some kind of guard for the steering ram ??

First test offroad will be this coming long weekend.
I'm keeping my spare doors for when i damage my current set.
After some testing this weekend i'll look at making more of a guard for the ram. its in the same spot as the old overkill setup. i guess i'll just have to be carefull for the minute. i'd like to relocate it up higher.

any suggestions on how to guard the ram if i left it in its current position?
There's currently a guard that comes off the diff guarding part of the main body of the ram, but there is nothing guarding any other section.

the spare is just tied there untill i build a small mount, but it sits there really well.

Why?
i think it'll make a great spare. its the same diameter as the simex, but lighter and non directional.

I have deleted all the posts to do with the tyre argument as this thread is about his Zook not the Spare.

First test run up the bush today. does everything really well
did some damage to the ring and pinion in the rear diff
, i don't think it was dialed in properly, should have checked everything a bit better. but hey i was in a hurry to drive it. brought it back home this arvo and changed in the spare ready to go wheeling again tomorrow.

hydro was great. its great the way it holds the wheels exactly where you want them to go with out trying to force your steering back to center. i overfilled the system and when it got hot i lost a little fulid. Also its ok to drive at speed. i sometimes had it up at 80kph+ on open forestry roads, and drove at an average of probally 60 for a good 15-20mins. its worked out well cause as soon as i hit the dirt i can unload it and drive to where i'm wheeling, i can get away with some general trail driving aswell as crawling in it. I haven't had a chance to put in on much rock yet but hopefully today or tomorrow, if not i'll take it up the dam in the next few weeks to where we have a lot of great sometimes driveable beadrock, not just large bolders. will be interesting to see how it goes then.

another pic in a hole.
also whoever said you can't get simex to flex wasn't running low enough presure. had about 4psi in them and they worked great. the whole side wall just flex's and the tread wraps around anything, haven't had them on any really smooth rock yet, but the rough boulders that i did drive they seemed ok.
