You're asking the wrong bloke. I waited until 1am Friday night/Saturday morning to drive less than 5 minutes and retire for the weekend. Only saw 2 other stages today which looked good but would've preferred to be driving rather than watching. Will be back next year to do better.

hello everyone chris here. i had the best time of my life. me and my navi. (chris) had dream runs all week end end. by memory we only winch 5- 6 times all weekend. we had big balls all weekend. this is a very short hello, going to have a shower / dinner. i will get on later and do my thanks to all.

What an absolutely awesome event!!! We had a fantastic time, and certainly learnt a lot. Huge thanks to the Gold Coast club, and the event organisers, an extremely well run event and the other competitors were fantastic. We made it to the end and placed 8th, which I am pretty happy with for a family wagon. The only carnage was panel damage and a CV. Looking forward to a good nights sleep.

A big congrats to all the competitors at this years event. I was marshalling on Saturday on SS4, the Splash & Dash and saw some amazing sights, including Rod's Yellow Zuk on two side wheels.... the most-heard comment was "DRIVE!"..... from the driver to the navigator after the driver change and the navi pointing the truck over the edge of the ledge into the creek! The navi in the GQ wagon (Sorry, don't know her name) has the distinction of driving that section the smoothest! Very impressive! Thanks to all you guys out there for making it a great event! And thanks to Rob, Phil and all the stage managers for their efforts in organising such a great event!

Awesome event guys, and a big arms up to Clarky and the Gold Coast Club. We were really pleased with our 7th place. Was really happy with the way the 80 performed as the first time I put it in 4wd since the ute chop was at stage 1. Car was only finished Thursday night and was using a borrowed winch. Was also my first ever winch oriented event. Cant wait for next year now, and a few more winch oriented events in between

Got loads of little things to finish off now before Tough tracks and Logan Challenge.

I tried before hand to get info on were the event was being held, con't get that much so went for a drive to try and find the place
After a couple of hours We found it.

All excited we headed off to find the action, we then found some and where told that we were not allowed to watch because it was a GSP run and yer.

Thats cool pretty hard to watch a all over the place stage so went to find the camp site where the sepectatios and officals where camped spoke to 3 people and then agian asked to leave, they told us that they did not want ppl to watch so yer
WE LEFT NOT HAPPY, if this was the case please tell me (us everybody) that you dont want ppl there and i wont waste my time.

Hi can someone please tell me where it is being held i have sent email to the club and have had no answer some mates and i wont to go and watch but we dont no where it is being held if some one could just tell us where it is on and how to get there thanks

The competition is held on private property and I don't think the competition organisers normally provide for spectators. If you contact the organiser then I am sure they will give you the details if spectators are allowed, however I think this will depend upon the property owner and the insurance company (it costs more for insurance if spectators are around).

this is correct. Handling spectators is a big headache. We cant really stop family and firends of competitors from coming and having a look, and we cant charge either.

Its not my call to tell everyone where it's being held, so if you contact the organisors by phone, it will be up to their discretion to tell you where it is....

Insurance for the event would go through the roof if we charged and made too much allowance for spectators.

Scotty, what more do you want us to say?? Spectators are welcome, but Saturday arvo when no events are one is a bit tuff, as you said. If you were able to come back in the morning, you have been able to see some great action. Was that you in the white Jackeroo?? You should have told me you were coming.

Wow, what a weekend...... I am probably as tired as some of you competitors.

The event started on Friday arvo with the gathering, safety chack and 'Show and Shine'. This was officiated by the guys from Staun, one of the events major sponsors. Chris Woods (Giantracing) took this out with the Monster Navara. After drivers briefing, the first paper stage was supplied, the Map Reading exercise. As the vehicles were called to SS1 one by one, I noticed everyone getting stuck into the Maps.

SS1 - Drop into the creek where a winch up the other side, to a reverse winch back down in to the creek. The track then continued up the dryish creek bed, to a kink and a rock shelf got just about eveyone who made it that far. This is where Gary Wardropper smashed his front end. Striped Tomato nearly got here before smashing the pitman arm. About 5 vehicles were recovered from this point. This continued to about 4am!!!!

The guys got about 30 mins sleep before drivers briefing for Saturdays SS's.

SS2 - Generally a fast stage with a nasty bog hole and slippery gully to climb/winch out of. Only one competitor drove this section. Unfortunately, after a nite of repairs and sleeping in the workshop back on teh coast, Gary got back to start my stage, got to the gully within 2 mins of starting and put it over drivers down before rolling over to passenger side. NOT HAPPY JAN!!!!!! After a difficult recovery, and further dramas getting him off the track, we were able to continue. DNF was 12 mins, and times ranged from 5 mins to 12 mins 30 secs. We only had 3 DNFs on the stage, so it could be considered a successful stage set-out.

As this was my stage, I didnt get to see anything else for the day.

I was dragged over to official on the Saturday night for the First-Aid stage. It was nice to sit around the fire with all you guys and girls.

On the Sunday, I think I had a sleep in, and I hadn't put my hand up to help anywhere this day as I was supposed to go back to town and grab Melissa and Declan for them to come out and show em around. The broken CV I got on Friday morning put a stop to that, as I was unable to steer it properly. So I headed over to SS 10 for spectating, but ended up helping with spectators etc

At this stage, 9 out the 16 starters remained, and even then Shane in the 75 ute didnt have a working winch.

A big congratulations go out to Peter Lephard and Andrew Derry for a convincing victory, Chris and Chris for 2nd - good effort, as staed above for a someone who hasnt competed in a winch type event - and 3rd for Rod Reardon and Navi (sorry forgot name) - consistent and entertaining effort as always.

I think most would agree though the team of the event was Vompie69 - What an unbelieveable effort in a wagon with low mount winch and worn 35 MTR's. You two communicated so well, and obviously enjoyed each others company.

Any way, I have work to do, so I will get back to it.

I was goin to go out as too was Clitty but I beleived that spectators wernt wanted and after hearing wat Scotty had been told and his events i decided to give it a miss.

Heath- Scotty turned up late saturday afternoon in a 80 series..

Scotty & anyone else who were given or told that they were not welcome to spectate I sincerely apologise the reason being for this is that we dont accomadate for specatators, due to insurance reasons. Anyone who came to watch were asked to contact an official (there was a sign on the gate)on entering the property so that they could be guided to a stage the reason for this being that it is held on private property and we did not want people wandering around unaccompanied, as we do not know the driving abilities of the people coming to watch. This was mainly set up for families following their teams. Sorry again, maybe next year we'll be better equipped to take more spectators.
