Thanks Rolly. My truck certainly paid the price. You did tell me to get some pics of it before starting cause it would never look the same after driving these tracks

Wow, what a weekend !!
Last round almost everyone loved the harder tracks so i thought i would make them hard enough to stop everyone .... [makes it easier on the paperwork ]
The trophy tracks were just as hard as last years Challenge tracks and the challenge tracks were run over old rockcrawling tracks!!!
The only problem is ... every single team stepped up to the challenge and did MUCH better than i thought
Not many teams finished the courses but they all worked hard to gain maximum points and drove further than anyone thought they would !!
There was some awesome driving over the weekend and it was great to see all the other teams cheering them on in the same friendly manner as always. One of the main things i really like about this comp is that we don't play for sheepstations which means we are there for the pure fun and comraderie
The people behind the scenes and all the officials do a great job and should be damn proud to be putting on such a great event and helping to get people started in the whole competition scene, theres quite a few competitors who have gone on to other comps but still come back because they enjoy it so much so i think we have the formula pretty right and will continue to improve and change things when the majority of the competitors are comfortable with it.
If we had of run a comp as hard as this one two years ago we would only have had a few competitors have a go at it but from what i heard over the weekend there would only be about 5% who thought it should be harder and about 5% who thought it was over the top.
The winners of the tracks certainly deserve high praise for their driving ability, navigating skills and their teamwork ... well done to ALL !!

The shortie that I was pulled up helping had a upper rear control arm snapp half way round a corner. Got him sorted out and back up and going.

I also think that the level of the tracks for the weekend was about right for the comp. and think that Shane did an awesome job with the tracks. The organisation for the weekend was also fantastic with the work the guys n gals behind the scenes put in making it one of the best rounds to date.
My weekend was not so brilliant and I shattered a hub on the first track, which also took out the stub axle and from there on it just went down hill. Long drive home as i had to keep stopping and re tightening those annoying retaining nuts on a stipped out axle. I opted out of track 3 hoping to be able to drive home rather than totally strip what thread i had left on the stub axle.
Anyway there is always round three.

Well EXCELLENT weekend, Nick and i had a ball we really enjoyed the tracks and they were at a right level for the comp. Congrats Linc and Ian again on your drive and navigating and Scotty and navi and Brett and Carl and Jeff and Will you all did well. Can't wait for third round and GBC that would be my ute making that lovely glass breaking sound 
She's all good and fixable. And can't forget about the people involved setting the tracks up and officals doing a great job.

well thanks for a great weekend im realy happy with the way we went and have to thank ben my navi great effort for his 1st comp and never seen my zook in action before. I have to say the tracks were alot harder than i thought they would be and cant belive we got 2nd over all in trophy class . thanks everone who helped us fix the zook so we could get home and c u all next round

Well thanks to Ian (my navi) for putting in the hours of work (till 10pm most nights) to get my truck ready to compete again at Rd3 of the 4x4Store.com.au Tough Tracks Challenge. It paid off and we come away with the win. 6th on track 1 followed by a 2nd on track 2 and 1st on track 3 gave us an overall 1st position for the event.
We didn't suffer so much as a bent steering arm the whole weekend the truck just stood up to it.
Ian really had it together this weekend and I said to him that if he does his best to get me onto the right lines then I'll do my best to drive it and kill the truck trying if need be. I drove the truck home but it certainly doesn't look like it used to.
Once the markers were laid out on track 3 we looked back up the track and I said to Shane "this is going to be to easy as it is now............lets run it in reverse" and so the descision was made to run it in reverse
That proved to sort the field out with only 10 or so completing that course.
We had a few very minor stuff ups over the weekend but nothing that really effected us. At one stage there my bloody engine stalled on the angle and I had to "key it" down to flat ground to start it again then on another occasion on track 3 Ian ran ahead to the first real obstical (the first of the rocky jump ups) and called packing and grabbed a rock and went to start packing but I came up to it and said to him "let's go cobber I reckon I can drive it" then I punched it straight up without a drama, but as Ian had called "stacking" and grabbed a rock, we still got the penalty.
I smashed a HUGE tree hard enough for people 150m away to see it shaking and hence the truck looking pretty bloody sad. It would have been a great deal worse had the roll cage not been in.
I'm absolutely wrapped to have come away with the win from the hardest round of the series to date.
Thanks to James for allowing me to trash his tyres and rims again.
Huge thanks to every one involved with the running of the event (track markers, officials, etc.) , to the sponsors (4x4store.com.au, trackabout campers, redlands 4wd centre, all 4x4 parts minden, YHI Brisbane, etc. Sorry if I have forgotten anyone) and to the media people and photographers involved. Thanks to Landcruiser Mountain Park and to fellow competitors.
There is so many more people that deserve a mention and many more stories I could tell (like the fact that Karl and I are supposedly a couple now or my Saturday night antics with Dollorous the used blow up doll I aquired from Fester) but this is all to much typing with a 2mth old baby in my arms.
I'll fix the truck up now and do it all again in a few months.
