Maybe we should propose the question to those running the HQ racing events whether we can run XB Falcons in their comp. Whatever answer they come up with we'll run with for this GQ racing event.
I think it'd be something like "Go and get...." (not sure of the rest
)

Are we talking Highmount or Lowmount??
There are a lot of Cheap Lowmounts around and Cheap Bars for them.
Another thing to keep the $$ down for Joe Blow.

Let them run low mounts if they want to as long as it is an off the shelf product.
Their disadvantage but cheaper.

I agree with lockee, If you dont like the class then dont compete. If you want to race in another truck, spend the 100k to be competitive or start your own class.

Standard off the shelf turbo kits on diesels should be allowed as a standard petrol still has more power, Just my thought!

Hard to control the amount of boost they run - but is an un-cooled TD going to go as well as a petty? (serious question)

yes, they still can handle boost increase without intercooler.

Even if they run 25psi through a standard kit (no cooler) then they would only last one stage. But with a petrol whats to stop you playing with crank, pistons, cams and serious head work etc and then you still have more power than a kit form diesel running 25psi

There just isn't enough of the "other" makes to just start another class. To be honest opening this up to other makes isn't going to change what enters anyway as 99% will be GQ's anyway. But the way I see it is why cut them few off? Are you guys scared that they will bet your beloved GQ shit boxes? I say step up, and in choppers words, harden the fark up
Darren I think allow low mounts as long as they warn low mounts. Just make the winch rule "warn winches only, min 8000lb" Other then my low mount being SLOW!!!!!!!! it has never missed a beat in 8 years and it has done its fair share of work. I know alot of high mounts that have done less work and needed rebuilding. Low mount warns are cheap second hand and there is no differance in reliability riskes with them over a second hand high mount.
I agree 100% with other brand name winches
Oh and I think you'll be surprised at the differance in numbers you'll get between people that have shown an interest and the number of people that will hand over the cash so to speak.

how are you going to build the proto - are you going to be a bolt on bandit like 90% of the possible competitors will be, and not really doing much work themselves...
not sure if I read it anywhere, are you going to allow fiberglass guards for cheap repairs over metal?

You can repair metals gaurds with Glass and metals ones are cheaper to buy???
I'm not sure what the bolt on bandit bit is all about but i'm sure it'll be putting a negative aspect on something

what Im sayin in Krim is an experienced competitor, and would find it easier and cheaper with his contacts and parts at home, beg borrow steal, to build a machine that the average pleb with no comp experience, no contacts, fuck all mechanical experience fuck all tools and shit like that.
if you have ever worked with glass you will know how easy it is to repair...

steel panels only , they are much cheaper to replace than glass.
anyone can lay a guard on the ground and hammer it back into a rough shape of a guard.
if not it can be replaced with a new one for around $180
fiberglass is easy to repair if you know how to do it. if you dont know **** it can get messy
I am a seasoned competitor and have lots of contacts. this is another good reason for GQ racing as we can use some of them contacts to benefit everyone

I am a seasoned competitor and have lots of contacts. this is another good reason for GQ racing as we can use some of them contacts to benefit everyone
kewl... As I have been talking to 3-4 dudes in our club that have GQ's, (one is searching for a new TB after toolangi trip few weeks ago), and they are all keen - about the only keenness in the place.
So keep it going. It also depends how serious this will end up - sponsors, entry fees, the actual tracks, and how many rounds per year...
Glass is easy to work with, just dont spill the resin container on your self, legs, cods, chest... or have a war with the other boat builder your working with with resin guns

dont worry about glass panels. keep it easy, metal.my 454 bigblock is easy to repair and stronger, can i race with that.

can the efi be removed from the tb42e and replaced with a carby in order to compete in carby-class racing (uh, I mean GQ class racing). I'm not sure if it's quite as easy as that. Just posing the question

You'd need to swap the dizzy aswell. But it wouldn't be too hard if you knew what you were doing.

Darren,
in the same vain as above can the car be dual fuel but run on petrol for the comp or would the gas need to be removed or isolated in some way?
